"They always say time changes things, but you actually have to change them yourself."
– Andy Warhol

2010 Update: Well, I'm now officially living the 30th year of my life and I must admit I'm feeling pretty darn good. I guess when I wrote the bottom portion I was ahead of the game but so right! It's amazing all my hard work and by this I mean in every aspect of my life is paying off. I'm feeling great both physically and mentally. I know this is due to the perfect combination of: Spark, spark buddies, spirituallity, and school...but let's face it if I didn't take advantage of any of this. If I didn't have the right mindset, the feeling and strong belief in myself, the desire and thirst to succeed nothing would have worked. So along with the gratitude I have for my dear friends both on Spark and outside of it, I must also applaud myself for all the hard work I've been putting in and for having the right attitude to keep me moving forward. So yay Spark and WAY TO GO MONI!!
Hey everyone my name is Monica but some call me Moni or Mon. I'm 29 years old, work full time and I go to school part time (at least for this semester). I'm working on reaching several goals by the time I turn 30 (next year), graduating from college and transferring to UCLA or CAL as an English Major. Go out to England to visit all the Literary History sites and walk the grounds of Oxford and Cambridge Universities (my dream schools). However, I wish to do this all by being a healthier version of me, that includes reaching my goal weight of 150 pounds.

The way I see it my 29th year is a the prologue to my 30th year of life. Right now I believe and feel that I am setting up the stage to what will be a new chapter in my new book of life. I have a gut feeling that my 30's will be the best years of my life, in every aspect imaginable so why not welcome these changes and/or experiences as a healthier me?!! I think I'm worth it so I'm going all the way BABY!!!

My Goals:
To be healthier and have a more active lifestyle. This change/goal includes mental, physical, and spiritual health.
Wouldn't mind reaching my goal weight either.

Almost forgot: Another goal, more like my dream is to travel the world and study cultures, religions, and of course be of service to those in need. I will do this by being an advocate for the environment and by being the voice for those that feel they no longer have one!!

My Program:
So far what has been working for me is logging in and keeping track of my meals by using the nutrition tool. I am staying as active as humanly possible, I fit in some type of activity daily. Whether it be working out at the gym, Tae Bo at home, Yoga, hiking, or my favorite Dancing!!

Personal Information:
I just moved to Berkeley, CA for school, originally from East Los Angeles. I'm half Mexican and half Salvadorian; however, I lived in El Salvador for 4 years. I'm dying to travel the world once I get my M.A.

Other Information:
My favorite author is of course Jane Austin, love Pride and Prejudice and of course that is also one of my favorite movies (BBC movie with Colin Firth, not the new one!!). I love all the Bridget Jones Movies, love anime, and every single type of music out there (except for POLKA-sorry), I love ELVIS not sure how it started but I've been a fan since I was 10!!
