    That sounds awesome!! I have been looking for a running partner as well, none of my friends are runners and running alone gets a bit boring. When do you normally run? I would love to do the 8k (and dress like leprechauns) I am going to be signing up this week, I will let you know when I do. I am excited to see where I will be a year from now emoticon

    I saw the HM, but I was a bit intimidated by the mileage. I have never ran more than 3 miles so I feel that starting with a 10k would help me get a solid base to then tackle on a half-marathon, which I want to do by year's end. I think it is smart of you to start training now, especially if you know that you will be taking breaks. I need to remember that it is alright if there is a day or even a week when I cannot exercise.

    I am going to look up that park, I need to go exploring more... I used to go to parks more when I had a camera (sadly I am cameraless for now) and spend hours taking pictures. I sorta love taking pics. How about you besides running what is a favorite hobby of yours?

    I am going to do Hal Higdon’s HM training plan and see how that goes. My eyes are on the Rock ‘N Roll HM in September. I am starting early I know, but that should keep me on track, and I know I will have to stop the training here and there. I am planning on a holiday in the summer so running will take a big hit that month.
    If you ever want a running partner, let me know! I am looking for someone to run with. We can motivate each other. Maybe you will the do the 8K with me in March emoticon …with goofy St. Patrick’s costumes and everything emoticon

    If you used to run 3 miles, then you are ready to do the 10K. That is what I did, and it went really well. Follow the plan as those programs really help – they also keep you accountable, plus if you are not ready to progress to the following week, you can always drop a week back, or repeat the week you are on. Allow yourself more time than the program states because you’ll never know if you have to stop for a week or so. Life happens, and you cannot always plan to follow the program as it states exactly.
    The park is actually called, First Landing state park….it is north VB and really pretty. Today I found a list of the best trails around the area. Can’t wait to go!

    Hey, TaterCat!
    Sorry to hear about your injury, hope it heals up soon and lets you get back to doing what you love. I totally understand the toll of, not being able to do your favorite exercise can do! I definitely agree that it can get boring to run the same track over and over again.
    It would be great to find local runners who can show the ropes in running. I am pretty new to running, when I was working out the most I could do was 3 miles, I did more dancing and pilates than anything. However, I hit my hiatus and am just getting out of it.
    This coming week I am starting Hal's Higdon's 10k program, then the HM is next! I am so excited!!
    To be honest, I have not heard of this park, I have been living here a while and yet I am still unfamiliar with many areas.. Nature is one of my favorite places to be it can be so relaxing and exciting at the same time!
    I did not know about this event, sounds like fun! I am also looking for races, it gives me a goal! It would be my first race ever... well, I did a 5k two years ago, but I walk/ran that.

    I have a small injury which keeps on persisting so I am not running this week which already shows on my nerves. I am swimming more, so that helps.
    I am going to look into running groups around VB area, maybe I will find a group that I can run with. Usually there are experienced people that can give you advice and help you improve. I was up to 10 miles on my own last fall, but those long distances were getting boring by myself. There is only so much I can entertain myself with emoticon
    Which HM plan are you doing? I have one printed out but I have to wait until this pain subsides. It seems like a really doable HM plan.

    I also want to go running in State Landing Park. Have you ever been there? Lots of runners and I love the nature.
