New Updated(2/25/2016) Info Starting Now. If you don't know me I started my weight loss journey and joined Sparkpeople in May of 2010 and I have kind of gone back and forth ever since then never really wanting to be serious about eating right and weight training at the same time... On Jan. 17, 2011 I decided to get serious all the way around and since then I have lost a total of 80 pounds over about a years time. I did it the right way doing extensive working out and keeping track of my food and eating properly. I had completed my first 10k in april 1012 and was training to do my first half marathon at Disneyland tinkerbell race which was taking place in January 2013. Unfortunately I had a bad car accident on 12/11/2012. I had problems with my back and neck which led to me needing surgery on my lower back. I went from crazy woman on a mission to lose weight to a person who could hardly leave the couch at all for the first 6 months. I struggled when I realized the weight was coming fast. I was so depressed between the pain and the weight. The doctors tell me I needed to lose 40 pounds before the surgery. I struggled the whole way in my broken body and watching what I eat to lose 30 pounds which at that point was told to lose 50. I then decided I wanted a second opinion which I got and the doctor then told me I needed the surgery right away. I asked him about the weight and he said the only difference would be the size of the scar. He said do what I could do to build my core before the surgery date and that would help my recovery. My surgery took place on 6/29/2015. I had a disc replacement and fusion on my L5 disc. Recovery was not nearly what I thought it would be and now it is 2/25/2016 8 months later and I have been doing 50 mins. 5x a week and strength training 3 days a week. I still modify some things but I am definitely getting stronger all over. I am tracking what I am eating and now using a fitbit HR to keep track of my fitness. I love that fitbit and sparkpeople work together makes it so much easier. I am a determined Soul and I only have 54 pounds to lose to get back to my lowest weight before the accident. I will be updating regularly now if you need help keeping on track become my friend on fitbit or sparkpeople. Wish me luck!!! I plan on running Disney next year time. Update 6/14/11...... Up to 27 pounds lost since January 17th....... UPdate 8/22/11...... UP to 32 pounds lost since Jan. 17th.....Slowly but surely going in the right direction... Update 2/22/12..... I am currently at 182 and its time to get back on track again.....I have taken some time to myself and not worried about my exercise and nutrition and look where its gotten me..... but thats because I have been eating whatever I want and not being accountable..... I have some goals for this year!!! I am going to follow through for once with my running training and then I want to take it to the next level and run several half marathons this year and be able to run my first full marathon by next year.... I want to do this for me!!! Wish me luck!!!

I currently just got serious starting on Jan. 17, 2011.
I burn 3000 - 3200 calories a week between five days...
I eat 1200 - 1550 calories a day watching not to exceed carb, fats, or protein goals..
I strength Train 6 Days a week working one main muscle Group a day...
My goal is to reach 140 pounds before the end of the year.....Wish me luck!!!
Did my first virtual 5k with a time 52:22!!
Not bad for my first 5k.

    Hi Renee, so AWESOME to hear from you! Wow, its been so long since we talked. So glad your surgery went well! How is your recovery going?

    What else is new? I am pretty much off the spark wagon though I do check the site daily just for interesting articles and recipes but have gotten really burned out and gave up leading my team. What a lot of work that is! I miss it at times and I think the team might miss me a bit but I just don't have the energy or time to devote to them. I am still devoted to a healthy lifestyle but I'm not tracking food anymore and am into intuitive eating and its working for me fairly well. I am heavier than I'd like to be (106 lbs right now) but I'm learning to accept the fact that I will never be a hard body 11% body fat chick in my 30's again! Boo Hoo.

    Sorry this is so long! I think of you every day, especially when I'm snuggled up in my wonderful blanket you made! I hope you will keep in touch! I will sparkmail you my new phone number and personal email address.

    Hi Renee, thanks for the goodie! Its so good to hear from you. How are you? I have thought about you so much, especially when I'm cuddling with my beautiful blanket you made me. My son has been staying with us since September and has taken over the jigsaw blanket.

    I am now working full time in Seattle with a commute but I love my job and I am finally making good money with great benefits. It has been an adjustment but well worth it.
