I guess I'm here for the same reason as everyone else, to lose weight! I've tried, unsuccessfully, many times before but I feel confident this time will be the last time! (I hope!)

I grew up heavy and fat and am still heavy and fat and I finally want to change that. Until I hit the 300 mark, my weight really didn't bother me all that much. Since I have been heavy all my life, I didn't have that period of "thinness" that I desperately wanted to get back to so I didn't have anything to compare to. For the most part I'm happy, I live a good life, and now I want my body to reflect that too and be healthy and strong. It'll be a long journey but it's one I want to finish this time! My first goal is to get back down to 300lbs, and then work on 20 lbs at a time, hopefully if I focus on the little steps I'll make it to the end.

My Goals:
I want to be at a healthy weight for the first time in my life. I've always been heavy; ever since I was about 7 years old. I have no idea what it feels like to be at a healthy weight. I want to know what it's like to go for a run, to shop for clothing in any store and not just the plus size stores, to be comfortable in my own skin. I want to see the real me that's hiding under all of this fat!

My Program:
Right now I'm starting slow, mainly focusing on listening to my body and eating when I'm actually hungry. I also have several workout DVDs that I plan on using this time! :)

I'm a big Lord of the Rings fan, my first apartment out of high school was practically covered in posters and artwork and such. I'm big into all sorts of crafting, I sew, crochet, draw, paint, make jewelery, scrapbook...I'm sure there's more but I can't really think of it right now.     I read your blog today and know how you feel about not wanting to deal with any major changes or having to pay attention, etc. Sometimes life throws us times like these. The important thing to remember is that you don't have to completely change everything all at once. The small things really do add up. I'm sure you know that and you're sick of hearing it (like I was too) but it's so true. I mean really, if you cut your portions a little...or didn't have that second helping...or didn't have fries and a salad instead...it could add up to 10 pounds off over a year and you probably won't even notice that you've made the changes. And you may thing "who cares about 10 pounds over a whole year?" but that's just it - it's still 10 pounds that will be off! I tell myself that all the time - I'll change small things and in a year 30 pounds will *poof* be gone! Then it's this time next year and nothing has changed. Know why? Because I didn't do anything to change it.

    So anyway, that's my attempt at motivating you to not give up mentally. You may not be ready to dedicate yourself to anything right now, but just the tiny changes and most importantly, the mindfulness - really are invaluable!
