My name is Allison, I'm 25 and just wee bit heavier than I'd like to be. I currently working 40 hours a week, am a foster mom to the 4-legged variety, am teaching myself to cook and be a good wife - needless to say I really don't have much time on my hands, so trying to lose weight isn't as easy as I would like.

I have a few reasons why I want to lose weight, first and foremost is getting back to being healthy. Secondly, I need to be at a healthy weight before we start trying for a kiddo - we're shooting for May - so 50 lbs to loose! I started out at 235, and have slowly been bringing that number down for the past year or so ... not as quick as I originally wanted though!

I was hoping with the addition of going to the gym often (5+ times a week) and changing my eating habits I would quickly shed ~10lbs or so. No luck on that front - I guess as you get older, it's more difficult to drop the weight ... right?

My Goals:
1. Lose around 55 lbs to get back to a 'healthy' weight.
2. Run the Resolution 5k on the 1st of the year
3. Run a 10k

My Program:
I just joined a gym and I'm trying to go at least 5 days a week. I have fit classes two days a week, and am wanting to throw in Cardio Kickboxing 1 day a week! I try to eat healthy (Not always - but when I don't - it's smaller portions!) and I've almost completely eliminated soda from my diet!! YAY!

    Hello Allison,

    I am back on SP after a 5-week absence and a death in the family. You joined the team while I was on SparkBreak, so I would like to give you a belated but warm welcome to the Crock Pot Team. I'm also a pet lover, though I don't have any right now, not allowed in my apt.

    Crock pots are how I learned to cook for myself; I now cook from scratch for health reasons, and use my crockpots every week. Right now I'm cooking pumpkins in the crockpot since I was gone & out of state for Thanksgiving, and have whole pumpkins waiting. I'll make pumpkin pies, pumpkin oatmeal, and frozen puree with the results from the crockpot.

    Now it's just a few days before Christmas, and I still have Fall Decors up. My crockpots will help me get caught up. I made crockpot mashed potatoes in the hospice, and it was a big hit. Not too healthy though, so I might try other things like sweet potatoes, soup, or collards or kale this time.

    Good luck with your plans. I too HATE gyms, but I've been walking or playing tennis almost every day; and I'm losing almost as quickly as when I used to run. I'm just watching the intake a little more closely. You've made a great decision to join Sparkpeople; and I'm sure you'll be a beautiful bride.
