    I agree with other's comments about Ambien. It's a great sleep aid, but you can get a tolerance & end up having to take more & more at once to get to sleep. So it's best to try & break it up over the week or save it for nights when you just HAVE to be your very best the next day (as if that isn't EVERY day for all of us, right!?)

    You know, you can skip the Tylenol PM and buy generic Benadryl. The ingredient in Tylenol PM that makes you sleepy is just bendaryl. It could be cheaper & you certainly don't need to keep taking acetominophin on a regular basis unless you're having pain - even then it can't be safe. I see the labels about liver probs on those tylenol bottles -that scares me anyway.

    And a word of warning if you try Ambien - DO NOT take it until you are IN BED, READY TO TURN OUT THE LIGHT. Once it hits, if you're up & about you might do things you won't even remember - it acts as an amnesic in some way or other.... if you're in bed, you'll get sleepy & fall asleep. Some people who have taken it without being in bed have done dangerous things like driving & cooking while in a sort of half-awake fugue state.

    STILL - don't let it prevent you from trying Ambien. Because in the long run, lack of sleep is also very dangerous & ALSO has a big effect on preventing weight loss (lots of NIH studies going on about that!!)

    I have been taking Ambien for about 5 years, so it is hard to remember when I first started taking it. I usually only take it if I have gone 3 or 4 nights with no sleep. I feel great when I do get up because I have such a good quality of sleep--not waking up every hour or 2. It seems if I take it too often it quits working, so I try not to take it more than once ot twice a week.
    If your doctor will let you try it, let me know how you do. That is the only thing that has ever helped me sleep. emoticon
