Hey, I'm Rachel. I'm a typical 24 year old just trying to find my place out there in the real world.

i started my journey at almost 175 pounds. i woke up one day & realized that this is sooo NOT the way that i wanted to live my life. so, not knowing any better, i started to starve myself. i ate less than 500 calories for about two months solid. do you want to know what's scary? it felt GOOD. yeah, it kind of freaked me out a little. i knew that if i kept on going the way that i was, i was headed down a long dark road that i definitely did not want to travel. then, i found this site.

i've changed my ways, & even though every day is a struggle, i'm getting through it. i eat right, i do yoga, pilates & lift free weights, i run & i ride my bike. i'm getting into the best shape of my life & i truly couldn't be happier.

spark people has allowed me to meet so many wonderful, inspiring & motivating people that have been there for me in so many ways! i'd pretty much be lost without this site!

losing more weight is just a bonus for me... i am heading towards getting into the best shape of my life & it's the hardest thing that i have ever done. i'm not doing this for anyone else but myself, & i couldn't be more excited or happy about where my life is headed!

i spend too much money on supermarket tabloids. i'm in l o v e with the west coast. i would die without my feather duvet and black eyeliner. i have a soft spot in my heart for siamese cats. i go to restaurants just because i like their salad.

in life i've learned to count my blessings & not my problems - - i've learned that people come & go and its not up to me to make them stay. i've learned how to hold on to what's special -- to let go of what's not. i've learned that kisses aren't contracts & that love's not a promise of a happily ever after. i've learned that people judge, people hate, and in the end there's not a damn thing you can do about it. i've learned to love myself, to believe in myself, and to follow my dreams.

i'm not perfect, not by a long shot. i'm scared of getting hurt & i've lost people that i love. i'm probably the most stubborn, ill tempered, craziest girl you'll ever meet. i don't give up & i'll push you past your limits. people don't have to make me smile, i smile on my own. in life i regret nothing. i can't change the past. i cherish each moment i have because each moment creates a memory, and memories... well, they can last forever. i don't rush things -- take life slow. enjoy the good moments while they last. i was taught to never take life for granted, to live a little, to love with everything i have , to never give up , to believe in myself , and most of all -- to fight for what i believe.

as you can probably already tell, i'm a talker! i love to motivate others, it makes me feel good & helps me to work harder to reach my goals because i want to set a good example! if you are reading this, send me a message or leave a comment, i love making new friends... we're all in this together!

My Goals:
get active!!! i want to increase my activity level to as many as 5 days a week, but even on days i don' t "plan" to work out, i still want to do a minimum of a half hour of activity.

i want to try to fit in those eight glasses of water a day! man, that one's going to be hard!

i want to tone up & see definition in my abs & arms!

hopefully lose 20-25 pounds between now & my birthday in august... but, muscles weigh more than fat... so i won't be too upset if i'm not right at my target weight.

My Program:
pay more attention to what i eat! be conscious of calories, fat grams... etc.

drink those eight glasses of water every day!

get eight hours of sleep every night!

workout intensely at least 5 days a week!

on my "off" days, do at least a half hour of activity.

don't forget to splurge every once in a while so i don't binge!

    Hey!!!! Where have you been? I'm doing alright. I had a short time where I wasn't working out like I should have been and 2 lbs creeped back up on me. But they are gone now and i'm back on track. I'm having a hard time not snacking at night now though..........anyway, let me know how your doing.

    Hey there!!! How have you been?? I finally broke my plateau today. 142.6. not a whole lot, but at least I broke it. I was really getting bummed and about 2 seconds from just giving up and i'm really glad I didn't now. I'm so excited to see what the 130's are like!!! I hope things haven't been too crazy for you. I know you said you were really busy with a lot of things. Well, let me know how you are doing!! Have a great weekend.
