I've been fighting fat my entire life. I've had some ups and some downs in this war, but with the help of Curves and SP, I know I can win this war for good! I'm excited, and I can feel myself changing; not just my body, but my whole way of thinking about life and living. Since I've joined Curves, I've lost over 30 pounds. I lost 15 pounds over 1 and a half years before that. I'm staying determined and motivated. Fitness Minutes: 1,481

My Goals:
I just want to be healthy. Being healthy is number 1! I don't need to be a size zero to be happy. I like me as I am now...I just want to be healthy so that I can stay this way for a long time. I'd like to be as strong physically as I feel I am in other areas of my life. 155 is close to the maximum I can weigh to be considered not overweight.

My Program:
I joined Curves around June of 2007. So far, I've dropped over 30 pounds. I also do a lot of walking. I use salsa dance and yoga videos when I can't get myself out of the house. I also have an old stationary bike that I try to use a few times a week (this is a newer tradition). My favorite workout equipment is my punching bag...perfect for those stressful days!

Other Information:
I come from a family of six. I've always been the biggest of them all. I hate that, especially since my mom used to be a been pole before she had my third older brother, and I'm the only other girl in the house. However, this means that I have five people rooting for me to succeed everytime we talk. I love that.

    Hey Roxy- "NOTHING tastes as good as THIN feels" I heard that on Dr. Phil or Tyra one day, but apparently it is/was a WW saying from years ago.

    I see you are a CURVES junky as well (I go 3-5 times per week). I joined last April - and with the help of SP, so far down 30 lbs and getting into size 10-11 clothing. 159 is the highest weight for my height to be considered healthy until the BMI scale, I am 5'7".

    SO happy, going bra shopping on Saturday so the 'girls' are getting a makeover ! LOL.

    I don't have a stationary bike, but I have around 6-8 DVD's; stability ball, skipping rope; regular bike(for summer); free weights, so I am trying to mix things up now.

    Walking is great exercise. That's how I started. Then I tried jogging a street at a time in my neighborhood or jog just during the "chorus" part of a song. (love that Eminem "lose yourself"). It's funny but that song gets me so pumped up! lol.

    I started jogging at about 180 lbs 5'4". I was really worried about my knees too. The MAIN thing is the shoes. you HAVE to spend some bucks and buy a good pair of jogging shoes. (Nike shox are great) I tried to go the cheap way, with some new balance cross trainers, jogged 1 time and then could barely walk for 2 weeks. Stupid I know.

    It takes a while to build up distance for jogging. Don't let that frustrate u when u attempt jogging. It took me almost 3 months to be able to jog a half mile w/o stopping. another 6 months to get to where I am now, jogging 5 miles w/o stopping. It takes time but it is the best execise. works every muscle in your body. I would jog every day if I could but like you I am worried about my knees. It is very hard on your hips, knees, etc. all joints. I've had so much weight on my body for the last 15 years I have no idea how bad my knees are..They crack a lot! I jog a few times per week and alternate with elliptical or stat. bike. It's very empowering to see your fitness level change month to month. good luck! keep it up!

    Thanks for adding me as a friend! Love your "curves ahead" background. Congrats on your weight loss thus far. I read a little on your page. I use my stationary bike a few times per week. You can burn some SERIOUS calories on that thing. just an FYI. Jogging is still by far my fav. it's free too! hehe Have a good one!
