When I was 16 years old I weighed around 180lbs. A visit to the doctor prompted me to lose about 40-45lbs with the support of my family and friends. I kept most of that weight off for 10 years but in my mid twenties that weight started to creep back up. I found Sparkpeople after reading a magazine article about it and I love it here, the community and tools are great, better than similar sites that you have to pay for!

I started Spark June 1st 2009 but my enthusiasm was not steady and I have gone weeks without exercise and eating well. I need consistency and that is what my goal here is in 2010. I am also very stubborn, a procrastinator and hard to motivate. Once I do get moving though, I am typically hard to stop. As of March I have gained a couple of pounds due to laziness and apathy, so I am redoing my goals and weights as of March 26, 2010.

I have a green belt in Isshinryu karate and have stepped away from the dojo for a while. I know that I will return to the martial arts someday because I really enjoy it. I am a gamer and I DO spend too much time online!

Still trying to find some consistency but I feel that things are changing for the better. Jogging seems to be the activity that motivates me the most. Though I will probably never win any road race, the atmosphere of competition at the races is enough to push to do one's best.

    So I'm late in acknowledging your kind words on my blogs, but I thank you so very much for them. This has been such a difficult time for me and your support is so well-appreciated. It's funny that you recommended yoga - my body totally needed it, I didn't give it, and I ended up with a crazy back/shoulder pain like nobody's business. I've been wokring with a chirogractor and that has helped soooooooo much, but man, if i just did a little yoga and a little strength training when i felt the need, i think i would have bypassed so much!! HAPPY NEW YEAR TO YOU FRIEND!!
