It's time for an exciting new phase as I met my initial goals plus became a SparkTeam leader. Finding courage to maintain this weight range through a healthier lifestyle and portion control. Though I love free food and I am an emotional / stress eater, promising myself "What Comes Off, Stays Off!" ~ Scootergirl in Oz.
"Courage is the willingness to be afraid and yet act anyway".
"A smile is a curve that straightens out a lot of things".

Hello, this was my original goal upon joining SparkPeople:
Been maintaining an 9kg (20lbs) weight loss achieved just before Xmas 2010. I am a stress/emotional eater and love free food.
New to having a support-group help me so would like to hear your tips, success and encouragement. Hoping Spark People will help me lose another 5kg (11lbs) by my May 19th birthday (target weight is 69kgs) and maintain it for 3 months before trying to lose another 5kg.

Thanks for looking me up. All the best for your own success!

My Goals:
Develop healthier eating habits to minimise the mindless stress eating that went wildly out of control during my MBA and SSE studies in the last quarter of 2011.

After losing 4 to 5 dress sizes, the "slowest loser" mindset is not working for me. Returning back to food tracking to reach and then maintain a Healthy/Normal BMI by May 2012 - in time for my birthday.

My Program:
- Feel amazing inside and out with the help of a gentle and friendly life coach.
- Walk the Harbour Bridge 4x/week.
- Train Beau Vegas (our staffy).
- Stationary biking when raining.
- Get my headspace into portion control and more sleep so I can better resist sugar and baked temptations.
- Practise rewarding myself without always using food.
- Giving myself permission to over-indulge twice a month.
- Enrolled in the MOSTMOM1 University of Hooping on World Hooping Day 11/11/11.
- Maybe get into Zumba?

Personal Information:
Sydney, Australia

Love all things Elvis!

Other Information:
Stoked that I finally earned an international university degree on 11 Mar 2011. Qualified for my MBA on 11/11/11. Graduated on 16 Dec 2011 to great relief.

Thanks for your encouraging message on my blog page. Congrats to you for making such great progress and for your upbeat attitude. As for your fear of re-gaining weight, it's good you are award and taking preventive measures. It's just one of those cruel facts of life that weight comes back on a lot easier than it comes off. emoticon
About three years ago I lost 45 lbs. on Weight Watchers. I ended up gaining 22 of those pounds back. Arrrghh! But at least I kept off some of the weight. I have been yo-yo dieting for awhile but am hopeful that this time, with Sparks, it's going to stick. My ideal weight is long way down the road. It's cliche, but true. It takes a real life change, not a diet, to make a difference.
BTW, saw you are an Elvis fan. A couple of years ago we were in Nashville and Memphis where we toured his recording studio and Graceland. Have you been there? If not, put it on your bucket list.

    emoticon Greetings and emoticon

Congrats on taking the next step to reaching a healthier you by getting active with SparkPeople - it's a great community, wonderful resources and fantastic support.

Please check out the SparkTeams - I think you will find a lot of others 'just like you' there. You can choose SparkTeams by age group, lifestyle or interests, geographic location or several other ways - some of the teams you might like include the Official 10-minute Daily Exercise Streak Challenge, Starting Over Weekly Mini-Challenge Team, 10k Steps A Day and Motivation & Positive Attitude Plan but there are so many to choose from, you can have a great time looking for the ones that seem to fit you best! In fact, I suggest joining more than one group, post your intro there and write blogs as often as you can - you will find tons of friends and support that way, I promise!!

In my experience, SparkPeople is like a emoticon in some ways - it's lots of fun and easy to make friends because we're all in this together. I like the way a HEALTHY LIFESTYLE is emphasized instead of a 'quick fix wonder diet' so it's good for people wanting to lose weight, maintain a previous loss, get healthier, improve fitness and many other goals - it's about waaaaaay more than 'just' losing weight so you have definitely come to the right place!

If you ever need any help using features of the site, there are tutorial videos under the HELP section that can show you how to use the features of the site. You can also find them on the START page and several other places on the site.

If you haven't already discovered The Spark book and/or the SparkDiet linked at the bottom of the START page, check them out - the program is simple but extremely effective. There is a TON of information on this site - so much it might even seem overwhelming but fortunately we don't have to 'digest' everything at once! The FastBreak program is a good way to start.

Another nice thing about SparkPeople is that we have permission to be human - we don't have to change everything at once or be in a hurry to reach our goals. Take a few baby steps and then a few more and before you know it, you'll have completed a long journey - I hope you enjoy this community as much as I do - it teaches us how to make positive lifetime changes because that's the only thing that will work over time!
