If you don't set a goal, how will you ever know when you reach your goal?

So, my list of the strategies I will be using to reach .Nov. 2013
1. Eat a lot more veggies & fruit.
2. Limit unhealthy food and keep tracking on SP.
3. Exercise.....
4. Sleep better, with a little leg & waist exercises before sleeping, because insomnia and weight loss don't work together.
5 Go to bed earlier to avoid food temptations at nite and because my body likes to get up early.

Well I've been around for 3 years now. The initial 20 lbs. are off again. Way back in the beginning: The harder I tried the more challenges I faced- I have persevered despite no losses showing on the scale and learned to see other measures of my success. Being diabetic, my blood sugar is a major indicator of successful results. When I started on SP, my bs were in the 13-15 range for early a.m, now I have my AIC go down to 6.9, and I'm still here and getting motivated again. So, there are successes other than on the scale.

My Goals:
To get my sugars under control with diet and exercise so I don't have to take any more meds or go on the needle for as long as I can avoid it.

Dec. 09 - a.m. bs was 13
Feb. 10 - a.m. bs was 7.8
May 10 - a.m. bs. was 6.1
July 2013 AIC - 6.9

Sept 2016 AIC 9.8
Well, now it's 2017 and I had to acknowledge that my body needs the help of insulin in November 2016. So, now my goals are to get a balance of carbs/pro/fat and healthy blood sugars...

My Program:
Do Walk Away the Pounds or walking outside weather permitting at least 5 days a week.

Track calories and stay with SP range...

Thanks for your comments on my status, and your kind words. I'm afraid the birds are warm-blooded, Lila, just like us. In fact, their base temps run higher than ours, which is why they feel warm to the touch.

I had to laugh a little when I read your comment on my status about insomniacs. It's so ridiculous - *why can't we sleep*??? Other people sleep. Animals sleep. I'm not worrying or frightened or anything like that - I just completely lost all my circadian rhythms. This time of year, when I'm not working, I'm no more likely to be asleep at 2:00 a.m. (which is in about 5 minutes) than I am at 2:00 p.m.

My whole life I could *always* sleep - the tough part was staying awake. I'd fall asleep in literally one minute or less (which I later found out is abnormal.) I'd wake up with the sun and go to sleep early - always got a solid eight hours. Now I'm lucky if I get a solid three. My FitBit keeps track of my sleep and tells me that basically I sleep really poorly - which of course I'm quite well aware of. Somehow, though, seeing it on a tracker makes it more real. Out of nine hours in bed, I sleep for about 2 1/2 - the rest is "restlessness" or "awake". Melatonin works for a while, but you're not supposed to take it constantly, and I really hate the idea of sleeping pills.

So what do you do? Do you get up (I do) or lie there and fuss? Take pills? Take naps? Ugh. This is so frustrating!
