This past Winter, 2008-2009, I topped out at 400 pounds. hurt to walk, hurt to do almost anything.

I had a friend force me to to start walking every day. We have been tracking our distances each day, and are "walking to Missouri" with push pins on Google Earth.

So far, it's been 6 weeks, and we've "walked" 78 miles total and as of yesterday (9-1-09), we are just getting into Waupun, WI from 2 blocks south of Lambeau Field.

I was tall and thinner in high school ( 6'1.5" 180 pounds) but over the years, I have climbed up to 400 pounds It's taken a little over 24 yearsto gain it. Now it's time to lose it and try to regain the things in life I lost because of my weight.

Oh, and I have been married for 23 years and we have 8 children. Yes, EIGHT children. they are 23, 22, 18, 15, 13, 4, 18 months, and 6 months. 4 girls and 4 boys... sorry, no tie breaker!! We also have 2 Grandchildren and another one on the way.

Work-wise, I own a janitorial franchise, where I do mostly carpet cleaning and hard flooring care. I also do any and all residential carpet cleaning that comes my way. For those that are wondering about that... I clean with a multi-step (pre-spray-agitate-extract), steam extraction.

I used to play drums for several Green Bay based bands and that's fallen to the wayside along with lots of other things I want to regain.

My Goals:
To be able to jog again, is the first goal.

second goal, is to be able to run (sprint) again.

Somewhere in between, I am going to sart playing drums again.


My Program:
I am walking more and more each day, adding strength training into the mix soon and then some high energy cardio workouts too.

    and i like your idea about tracking your walking on a map .... i will have to get a map... my son would get a kick out of that and he could learn something along the way .( he is 8 ) and he is my only child .... God bless you with 8 children ,, I always wanted more, but it was not meant to be... not yet anyway

    Well, you shouldn't but if you can't, you can't. However, you could take a shorter walk. Like walk for 10 minutes and turn around and walk back. How does that sound?
