Hi, My name is Sandy and I really appreciated your reply to the blog on tanning booths. I've had fibromyalgia for decades and here in Western New York we have a very short season for sun exposure. My Vitamin D level was SUPER low a few years ago, so I started taking 10,000 IU daily of vitamin D3, and am STILL on that dose(with my Dr's approval). Last summer, after neck surgery due to a car accident, my fibro was flared so badly I could hardly turn my head. Massage therapy was great, but didn't last, so I ended up trying a tanning booth. The feeling of deep heat was wonderful, and I was talked into buying a bronzing lotion from the salon. I wasn't going every day, but 2-3 times a week and soon my son told me, " Mom, you'd better not go to Arizona, they'll try and ship you down to Mexico with the illegals!" It was then I started using sunscreen(SPF50) at the tanning salon instead of bronzer. The tanning booth still felt as great, but I wasn't browning anymore. I had another surgery for a herniated disc from the same car accident in Feb. of this year, and once again, my fibro is flared terribly. I may go tanning again soon, but now using the SPF50 every time. I do sit outside when I can to help up my Vit D levels, But there's just not enough warm weather here to be free of D3 supplements.
I hope you're feeling well. Have a great summer!

I just read you comment on a "fruit and vegetable article" about people trying to put us in boxes (pop psychology as you said). I love that! I prefer living (a) outside the box and (b) without labels. I have found though, in my experience, that people actually prefer both. It helps them to define themselves I think. I don't know, I like to explore my world and myself and discover more and more without borders, boxes, or defined limits. To me life is an adventure to be lived, a journey to explore, an opportunity to expand.

Thanks for offering that unique comment amidst the slew of conformity!
