Hi. It's a new year, and I think that warrants a new intro. I was born the year the Corvette was introduced. I am on a journey to eat better and exercise more. Age, menopause, lack of a thyroid, and years of bad habits make the battle of the bulge increasingly difficult. It's been a long time since I was the skinny teen. By making better choices, I have not only been able to prevent additional weight gain, but I also am finding that eating healthy gives me a craving for healthy foods, and exercise gives me energy to exercise again.

Still ...... sometimes those bad nibbling habits sneak back in. So I am writing a reminder of what works best for me.

1. Being too hungry leads to too much fast food, either the typical fast food drive-through, or to dipping into the cookie jar or candy dish while I am at home trying to fix a sane supper. Don't skip meals.
2. Water, fruit, veggies, whole grains, and protein is really what my body needs and craves. When I feed my body well, my body is satisfied with fewer calories. When I feed my body junk, such as too much sugar or empty carbs, then my body demands a lot of calories because it is trying to eke out nutrients from low-nutrient foods. Work with my body, not against it.
3. Writing what I eat works. It helps me learn which foods provide which nutrients. Even if I tell myself I am just writing what I eat, and not forcing myself to meet goals, I eat less junk and more good stuff if I write down ever bite. Use the tracker.
4. Focus on making my insides beautiful, and the outside will take care of itself.
5. Exercise can be fun. Do it.
