I am a 50-year-old mother of three. I am a part-time pediatrician. I have a wonderful supportive husband who inspired me by running his first marathon in 2010. I joined SP in 2011 to help me get in shape after having a minor hip surgery. I have been on and off (mostly off) since then. I had shoulder surgery in 2014 and hernia surgery in 2015. After my husband had a back injury in 2016, my fitness level has been decreasing and my weight has been increasing. My employer offered to pay for a subscription to several different weight loss programs this year so my husband and I signed up for one of them (SparkPeople was not on the list). I completed the 16 week program last week. It was an ok program, but I find that I have had more weight loss when I have tracked with SparkPeople in the past so I am back! (I had to complete the 16 weeks on the other program to get money back on my health insurance). I lost 23 pounds during the 16 weeks and would love to lose another 48 to get to my goal weight. My husband did really well on the program and is very supportive as he continues his healthy lifestyle changes.
