Well, here goes. . .

Mly name is Wren, and I first gained weight when I was 10 years old. At the time, I was being sexually abused by my father, and I used sugary foods as a way to numb the pain.

My weight has gone up and down ever since. I started my last weight gain after a sexual harassment incident at work, and reached my highest weight of 260 pounds after a lengthy period of depression.

I've lost 50 pounds on Weight Watchers and have been stuck on losing more, but I would like to get down to 135. I struggle with conflicting feelings, as there is a definite pay-off for me to being overweight, which is that when I am overweight, I am invisible and don't get the kind of attention that makes me uncomfortable.

I've worked hard to gain my health. In my 20s, I was a steroid-dependent asthmatic. Today, I rarely need any astma medicine, my blood pressure, heart rate, and cholesterol are great, and I enjoy exercise. I'm so grateful to have my health, and I want to take the next step in letting go of the weight that I hide behind.

Wish me luck!

My goals for 2009:

* Healing. In 2009, I will continue gathering the broken pieces of myself off the floor and fitting them together into a beautiful mosaic that all can enjoy.

* Work. In 2009, I will continue to show up and be of service and to remember that leadership is a responsibility.

* Creativity. In 2009, I will focus on nurturing my creativity in all its forms. I will not treat my creativity like a child that I dont know what to do with.

* Marriage. In 2009, I will take the time to remember why I am grateful to know my husband and I will spend time nourishing our marriage.

* Health. In 2009, I will work toward and will achieve the best health I have ever known.

* Hearth. In 2009, I will take action to make my home my temple.
