Well the doctor says loose weight, quit smoking, and get your blood pressure back down or 10 years max is all you have. So here I am back to finish this thing once and for all. I have to or I may not get another chance.

One of the great lessons I've learned is to take personal responsibility. You can't change the seasons, or all the bad things in life, or other people. You only have control of yourself and to that end you should learn how to harness that control to it's perfection. Learn to control yourself and then no one and nothing else will make you feel out of control. It's a mission in life for me.

I'm in school finally. I spent the summer getting back in school and started in August. I was scared stupid but spit it the face of my fear and pushed on. After 20 years out of school I pulled a 3.94 my first semester. So I'm kinda proud and amazed, but it also taught me that when I face down the fear and put 100% in I can accomplish my goals. So now I want to apply that to the rest of my life. Courage isn't not feeling fear, it's pushing on in spite of that fear.

So I'm always rescuing someone or something, from cats and dogs to neighbors. This year is going to be the year to change that a little. This year my goal is to rescue myself... from health issues, from the rolls of fat that hide me and keep me from living my life, from the feeling that I must feel guilty if I take care of myself. My New Year Resolution is to learn to live in the moment. We can't change the past and unless it has a lesson to help us now let it go... The only affect we can have on the future is now this moment, worry won't change it. So my Resolution is to learn how to live in the NOW. What should I eat this moment, what should I do with this moment... not worry about loosing the 100 lbs, because if I do what I need to this moment and each moment that follows then the 100lbs will go away all by itself. Enjoy the moment... revel in your accomplishments but take the lessons and leave the failures in the past. That was yesterday and now is where I am.

My puppy runs from me too, but after I wear her out from a walk, she is quiet and still. I think you should try the walk. I laughed at your comment, It brought back memories of this morning as Laci was running from me. I keep a leash on her at all times now so that I can easily stop her.

I was here, left, and came back when I got serious, and I'm SOOO glad I did. You will be too! Stick around and come back every day!

Hi! I just stopped on your page to say "HI" and welcome you to Spark. You're in the right place to reach your goals, but promise that you'll stop in every day and log your water, log your veggies and fruit, log your food, log your exercise, and read, and post, and log your water, and write on someones page, and read some more, and blog, and log your water, and LEARN that you are not alone, and we're all right here with you! Did I mention that you should log your water?

WHEW! Ok, I know you're overwhelmed getting to know this site, but use those buttons up there, especially the MY TRACKERS drop down list, and then either the START or MY SPARKPOINTS. Both of these helped me learn about the site, gain momentum and meet new friends.

Speaking of meeting new friends, this place is like a cocktail party. If you stand in the corner, you won't have as much fun. Make eye contact (or in this place, leave a message on someone's page, or add your opinion to the bazillion conversations going on) to say HI, and you'll meet new friends quick. Oh, yeah, WRITE A BLOG TOO! The catchy title brings folks to your page and you'll meet new friends even faster!

Coming here every day adds a great level of support and accountability. Explore, learn, and never be afraid to reach out for help. We're all in this together! Stop by at my page and introduce yourself around to some of my friends too! You'll be glad you did!

Doing it together, success is inevitable!

emoticon to SparkPeople and the "Writers' Support Group" team. I wish you much success with your weight loss. Take things one healthy meal, one exercise, one positive day at a time and always believe in yourself you can do this, one pound at a time. emoticon -- Lou
