I first joined SparkPeople when my oldest turned 1. It was amazing! I dropped all the baby weight and then some, and ended up being in the best shape of my life! When she turned three, I was so grateful to have the literal and figurative strength that I had cultivated as it became clear I was in a abusive marriage with a man who was choosing to be unfaithful and dishonest. It took me 3 years to begin to dissolve our marriage. I needed my daughter to be older, more independent, and one responsible. I just couldn't trust her tender young self with someone who continued to make such poor choices in so many aspects of life. And as it turns out, as one relationship was dissolving, another one was taking form! I am happy to say I am now married to my Divine counterpart, and the love of my life. He and I have a daughter who will be two this summer and my two girls have an incredibly beautiful relationship and love each other dearly. However... It means that I again have baby weight to lose. And this time, I'm 10 years older with a whole slew of variables and life changes that were not there the first time. The good news? I know I can do this! I've done it before! I am currently training for my first half marathon in many many years, and I have support like I've never had before! My husband is unbelievably encouraging. And my oldest (who is now 10) is paying even more attention to how her mom lives and takes care of herself in a way that will inevitably continue to shape her own body positivity as she creeps toward puberty. I love my body and all that it does. I appreciate it, and I want to celebrate it for the temple that it is! My goal is by my birthday, which is August 8th, to feel amazing about what I've accomplished with my physical health and conditioning. I am radiant and joyful psrson. I love being a woman who does not say, "Oh I could never imagine..." I take chances, constantly stepping out of my comfort zone. I dance and laugh freely. I surround myself with people who bring out the best in me. My work is my passion, my bliss. I thank Goddess each and everyday that I may be so blessed to be in one of the happiest times of my life. "Motivation is what gets you started. Habit is what keeps you going". It has been nine years since I joined SP. I fully believe that this site has helped me evolve into the heath conscious woman I have become. When I eat well and am active, I feel wonderful. I can enjoy life without so many self imposed limitations. (And be real... aren't nearly all limitations self imposed)? It makes me want to reclaim this as my lifestyle. I see no negative outcome possible from making my (and my family's) health a priority. I am a yogini. Yoga found me in 1997. The rest is her-story. I have never had such a powerful influence in my life that was not another sentient being. My practice could be stronger, I think all teachers struggle with that. Typical work life balance. But it is yoga, so it is not exactly typical. Opportunities to learn everywhere. I am a healer. I've done energy healing (BodyTalk) since 2005, but it was only in February of 2018 after losing my dad was I able to more fully arrive to a place of understanding, and claim my power as a gifted healer and modern mystic. He taught me through his illness and decline, that I have a phenomenal capacity to sustain quality of life, even when life force is diminishing. I am a healer in a world that desperately needs the healers to show up. I am a wayward runner. Years passed and running didn't happen. But I missed it. Running is my therapy, yoga my church. There are days when nothing feels quite as wonderful as being able to literally run my troubles away. I'm training for my first 1/2 marathon in 6-7 years. I needed motivation to get back into a routine. Which means running in spring snow storms and being out before 6 am on those sticky Summer mornings. I like being strong, it is practical, so I ideally will return to lifting three times a week. Gardening reminds me that it is very helpful to have the muscle to haul dirt, dig holes, plant shrubs, and pull weeds. My daughters get bigger everyday. I want to be able to always scoop them up and twirl them around for the rest of my life. Plus, definition is sexy. And I love being smoking hot for my amazing husband. I have recently recommitted to eating more raw foods and green smoothies. When I eat raw, I do notice a difference in the way I feel and look. It gives me so much more energy and clarity. It might be tough in the winter. I am seeing that already, but I am committed to consuming ever more alive food. For me it all comes down to figuring out what works for me and my family. There is a lot of winging it, but I'm good with that. "Change and growth take place when a person has risked himself and dares to become involved with experimenting with his own life".
