Don't You Dare!

Monday, April 28, 2008

This is an open letter to everyone but me.

I have always blamed my failure to lose weight on me, but after some reflection, it has been pretty clear that I don't share all the blame. You, my dear friends and family, have not done much to help me lose weight, and have often hindered my progress.

I have no doubt that this was largely unintentional, so I am willing to cut you a little slack. So consider this a warning. Pull that crap again, and I will punch you in the neck!

If I ever tell you I've lost weight, and you respond with "oh, that's just water weight", I will punch you in the neck!

If you offer me something to eat and I say no, if you say, "are you sure?" I will punch you in the neck!

If you invite me to your house for dinner, and don't provide something healthy for me to eat, I will punch you in the neck!

If you poke fun at my efforts, I will punch you in the neck!

If you say anything related to, "Oh, one little bowl of ice cream won't hurt" I will punch you in the neck!

In short, if you ever EVER do anything to stand in the way of me meeting my goals, I will punch you in the neck!

If, however, you support me, I know I can do this. Without you, I'm toast. So get with the program, or come back in about 100 lbs.

Thanks!

I love this! I too have always blamed myself for not being strong enough, or lack of willpower. I tell my family I'm watching weight and they have scoffed or fixed huge calorie meals and gotten upset when I eat just a bit. This time is different though and my son, bless his heart, watches to make sure that if I want a snack that I am still within my calorie count for the day.
With this attitude, I know you will succeed!

Now that's the right attitude...I like it!!! I know we are all responsible to some point, but really how many times have we heard, oh one little bit won't hurt you? If they really understood how hard it was to make a lifestyle change, they wouldn't try to sabotage us willingly or not.

Stand firm in your commitment or punch them in the neck. If you need some help punching them, hollar...LOL

Way to go! You're friends and family should be a support system, but
if they aren't, make them get with the program! You can always find
support here on SP, we know what you're going through! ( I have a
sister in law who thinks butter and mayonaise are food groups- she puts
    them on everything! )
