Modern Homesteading

Hope everyone had a happy 4th of July weekend!

I did! But not in the traditional manner. I saw no fireworks. I didn't really leave the house much!

Friday I drained the giant fishtank. I no longer use it. I cleaned it up a bit and broke it down. Saturday I sold it on Craigslist for $400 (it is very, very, very big). The big guys came and struggled, but managed to get it out to their big truck and down the street.

I also cleaned, photographed and listed for sale lots of other various things that are unused. I sold several things. I sold a box of books back to the used bookstore.

I found Borax and washing soda for sale at the grocery store. I located Fels naptha laundry soap. I'll pick it up tonight and make my own laundry soap - 3 cents a load.

I batch cooked this weekend! I made a lot of chicken noodle soup, Tempeh teriyaki and hummus. I also bought a secondhand breadmaker off of craigslist and started baking bread! Lots and lots of bread. I have baked three loaves so far. All whole wheat.

I fixed the fence.

I lost a pound.

It was a wonderful weekend.
