Instead of being lazy, I did the unthinkable!

Saturday, September 20, 2008

So this morning I got up to do my usual saturday routine which is to go to the gym and do my 60 minutes of cardio followed by some strength training. When I got closer to the gym the police had the whole block barricaded off. Turns out there was a murder at the bowling alley which is right next to my gym and that whole area would be shut down for the whole day.

I went home and was going to get back in the bed but I was like I got my workout clothes on and I am up so you know what I did, "I WENT RUNNING!" I haven't ran in months, every since I had that allergic reaction plus I have a stress fracture which can't take to much impact. What can I say is I ran 2 miles non stop and it felt good. I wasn't tired. My heart rate stayed between 160-165. I was like wow I am in better shape then I thought.

I was glad I decided to go running instead of laying back down in the bed. I may have to incorporate running into my workout routine now. I must admit I am a little sore, having to use muscles that I haven't really worked in awhile because I don't run. But all in all "I FEEL GOOD!"

That’s great that you found an alternative. I try to advise people, either face to face or on my blog. One of the biggest things I recommend is finding ways to get your workout when you can’t get to the gym. Lord knows I have had many days when I was in my car driving to the gym and I found myself being detoured for one reason or another. I’m glad to see that you went jogging. That’s good encouragement for everyone else.

Like you, I find that on my journey to better fitness and health, I find that I’m in better shape than I thought too. The sore muscles are a good thing. That just means you really did push yourself. Way To Go!!!!!

I am so proud of you. You know you're changing habits when you learn to stick to the game plan instead of finding a reason not to do the routine. I'm happy for you. Don't let nothing stop you or hold you back from reaching your goal. You're almost at your goal of 190 so what are you going to do to celebrate? Take care and keep it up.

Yay, you! Congratulations on getting in that run! 2 miles non-stop is impressive!

And it's always good to keep a little variety in your routine, so for sure add in some running as a special treat (don't want to stress that fractured bone too much, right?).

Keep going! Thanks for the inspiration!

    Cheers,
    Maya
