Best Dam Run 10k race report

Thursday, October 02, 2008

Last Saturday I ran my first 10k. This was a special event, my mom did it with me, making this our first race together.

The first 3-4 miles was either downhill or flat, all paved roads alongside a river. It was pretty. Then we had a short hill to come up, and the rest of the race was on the highway and back to the City Hall.

I had a PR of 48:49. That made me 7th of 34 in my age group, 14th out of all females and 56th overall.

My mom may have placed in her age group, we're waiting to see.

I was happy with my time, but the best part of the race was the people. It's fun being around other people who race.

I've also gotten the privledge to run with some people in my area who are or used to be competitive runners. I'm hoping to learn from them as time goes by this winter. Running with someone else is so nice, especially if it's just an easy run and we can chat the entire time!

Congrats on an excellent time, especially for your first 10K! It must have been so great to share that exeprience with your Mother. Mine is very supportive, but there's NO WAY she's hitting the pavement anytime soon! You guys are lucky to have each other!
