Back on the Wagon!

Friday, December 26, 2008

I've somehow managed to let my new healthy habits slip away from me. And I've got lots of good excuses; holidays & sick kiddos being the two biggies. But the busy-ness of the holidays & having to keep sick kiddos out of the childcare at the gym can't account for loading up on the mini-cheesecakes instead of the veggie trays at the Christmas parties. Those excuses don't account for sitting infront of the TV or computer when I could have taken my germy kids on a walk outside or even changed the channel to some exercise program. And to be completely honest, those excuses can't account for this open bag of truffles sitting on my desk even as I type.

What it boils down to is this: If it's important to me I will make the time or find a way to do it. If it's not important, I won't. This is true in every aspect of my life, not just exercise & nutrition. Apparently exercising & healthful foods have not been much of a priority for me over the last month.

But I am pulling myself back up & climbing back on that wagon. Today I did 60 minutes of cardio & then some upper body ST. And that was my 3rd time to the gym this week. (Which, by the way, is more trips to the gym in one week than I had done in a WHOLE MONTH!)

I am going to the gym tomorrow (on a SATURDAY?!?!?!?!) to make my 4th trip for the week which will put me at my 2000cal/week goal.

I am putting my workouts back into my scheduler on my blackberry - I know it's silly to schedule that in, but honestly, if it's written on my calendar, it's much more likely to actually get done.

As soon as I finish this blog, I am taking these darn truffles off my desk & putting them at the back of my cabinet & I'll put them out at my New Years Eve party - so others will eat them, not me. (I get sooooo hung up on NOT throwing food - even junk food- away!)

That's my plan for the next few days. Next week, I plan to get to the gym 4 days again, to burn 2000 calories again. I have groceries to prepare my meals at home for the rest of the month. And at my New Years Eve party, I will stick with the healthier snacks & will stay away from the high-fat/cal stuff.

Folks, I am back on the wagon! Anyone with me??????

Way to go, getting back on track!! And honestly, scheduling workouts is one of THE most recommended ways of making sure they get done! So don't feel silly! Just keep it up!

Let me know if there's any way I can help!

i don't think it's stupid to schedule your workouts at all. if i went somewhere to work out, it would definitely have to be scheduled. you're doing great. two steps forward, one step back, as they always say. you are making progress!
