Introduction and Completion of Week 35 of 35 to Goal of Competing!

Monday, January 19, 2009

I've recently committed to a goal that's a bit beyond just reaching my healthy weight. I'm embarking on a journey I will NEVER forget and I hope will inspire many. My next goal is to compete in a figure competition that will take place on September 12, 2009. I've completed the first week of 35 weeks. The next 8 plus months will prove to be the most challenging, but I have a feeling I will come out with so much more when I'm done. This will be an amazing journey and transformation!

My disclaimer is when I'm speaking of my diet, exercise, or weight, please keep in mind my primary goal is not the same as achieving a "healthy" weight. I have 8 lbs to reach my original long term weight loss goal here with eDiets - my "healthy" weight. Like Cooth has said, "it's as good as done." The goal of competing will ultimately get me to that weight loss goal in the process. So, this is my focus for now.

I have guidance from several - my trainer, and RC mostly. My trainer has taken me under his wing and is mentoring me along the way. I'm also constantly staying on RC's nerves with my additional questions. ;) I'm consistent about posting weekly goals on his 2009 Goals Thread because it motivates me so well. Which by the way, I strongly recommend ALL of you post there in addition to other boards. You can find this thread on the Exercise and Fitness board. In my opinion it's the missing link.

I'm very excited and also very nervous about this goal, but I'm happy to be sharing it with everyone here. After all, RC is the one responsible for peaking my interest in competing and awakening a passion hidden within. I won't say deep within; I've always known some of it existed. I've also made lifelong friends here that support me in all I do/am doing; they encourage me daily, as well as a wonderful husband supporting every second of my life with all of his heart. Where would I be without these people?

I hope to use this blog to post how the week went - what a typical diet day looked like, my exercise routine for the week, how I felt, and the results of that week. Possibly any changes I will make, or any changes made by Mark and anything else I feel I should add.

Although my trainer has allowed me to have some comp. diet forbidden foods, I have chosen against it after seeing the affects they have on my overall health. It seems I have some overlooked food allergies that I unveiled after my 56 days of comp. lifestyle (previously blogged about). I've decided that the way I need to eat for obtaining my goals of competing also need to be the way I eat for optimum health - making this journey a LOT easier.

I have to say that having lost an almost amazing 75lbs has had its' benefits in this goal. I track my food and ratios daily, exercise consistently, know what it takes to be self-disciplined in the way of avoiding junk food, recognize cues my body gives, know the power behind having a positive outlook, and have learned what motivates me. These qualities will serve me well in the next 8 months.

Onwards to an amazing journey!

This Saturday completed week 35 of 35. I had a loss of 1.2 lbs, which is shy of only 0.3 lbs of what my avg. loss needs to be each week. I don't feel like it's time to sweat it just yet; there's still a ways to go.

Your progress pics look awesome! September is perfect! I wish I could do mine later in the year, I would feel much more confident about doing this (my BF is still at 31% you know!), but they only do them in May here. I am definitely keeping a closer eye on you now, we can panic together!!
