249 and Feelin' Fine!

So after back-sliding into Chunky Cheeseburger, Cookie Kingdom and Rolly Polly Pizza Land over the November-December months (in which I allowed myself to pack on a few more pounds) I decided to turn things around in January like a zillion other overweight, grumpy Americans. Lauren--PUT the organic truffles down, release your grip on the burrito, stop eating dim-sum every other day and back away from the bag of chili lime Cheetos!
As of January 5th I've been religiously watching what I "nom" on, eating way too much low fat cottage cheese, getting my thrills out of a sugar free fudge-pops and so far, so good. I got on the scale this morning and found out that I was out of the 250 pound range and into the 240's! HOT DIGGITY DOG!
I stood next to the toilet and did a little excited dance, waited for the scale to re-set itself, hopped on again and the same numbers flashed on the display confirming that I was hoping I hadn't misread the first time: 249.4!!
Can we say happy and proud and excited all at the same time? I mean, I know it's not that huge of a loss (8 pounds total) but regardless I'm stoked. Eight pounds that *aren't* hanging on my hips or bouncing on my tummy anymore is fiiiine by me.
I'm looking forward to seeing what I can accomplish this week and busting out my new resistance bands, strenght training DVD and yoga ball that I bought yesterday when I get home from work :]
