my back - **warning - I'm being a big whine-y baby**

It's official, I have the family back curse* (and of course all the years of carrying too much weight hasn't helped). According to the MRI I have 3 herniated disks. One of which has some small tears in the outer part of the disk. The cortisone shots I got a 2 weeks ago helped. I'm no longer feeling the sharp shooting pains, but now I'm feeling radiating pain. Less severe, less frequent, so it's better but not perfect yet.
Next step is physical therapy - 8 visits over 4 weeks. If that doesn't help/work, then we talk about epidural cortisone injections.
Fingers crossed that the PT works. I was freaked over the SI join injections, I'm pretty sure I'll pass out if I have to have an actual spinal injection!
Feels weird, I'm angry about it, at myself for letting my weight get so out of control, at whatever b/c the weight loss wasn't enough (soon enough) to prevent this. Scared, the uncertainty of it all....
At the dr appt last night (when I got my MRI results), they have this torture tool there..it's this metal pointy thing that they push on your back with to see where it hurts. HELLO it feels like they're trying to pierce you with it! Of course it hurts!! WTH??? Anyway doc yesterday wants to see how my SI joint is doing (apparently me telling her it's not bad isn't good enough) so she stabs me w/ that thing, it hurts like hell (ok, really it's just pressure, and she's probably not pushing hard on it, but I feel it so much b/c the joint is inflamed, but that's all besides the point here!). So anyway, how's about, today the site where she poked me w/ the torture tool is sore as hell! Back feels all around worse today than it did yesterday! OMG! Ugggg ok, I'm done whining now.
*family back curse - both my grandparents (on Dad's side), my Dad, my uncle (my grandparents only 2 children) have all had herniated disks and the surgery to repair it. I know it's not a heridatary thing, but it's a whole lotta coincidence!
