Let’s take back our Independence from the diet stigma! The second you hear the word “diet” what come to mind: Restrictions, Deprivation, Limitations, Weight Fluctuations, and lack of success because of these things?!?!?!?!?!

We need to re-wire our brains so to speak and look at it in a whole new way! Our journey to a healthy life style change is actually a time of enlightenment, personal growth, empowerment, and permanent weight loss.

On this journey we expect to watch what we eat and increase our activity levels however a lot of times we forget that to be truly successful we have to learn how to incorporate it into or normal daily lives. Now that might sound strange but think about it for a minute! Are you going to spend the rest of your life without having a chocolate bar, going out to at your favorite restaurant, going on vacation when cooking for yourself is extremely limited or avoiding celebrations where high calorie foods and beverages are going to be? Of course not!!! We need to learn how to work these things into our healthy life style changes so we can take them in stride!

This challenge may seem to go against your judgment at first but work with me....

First list out your favorite “treats” you’ve been trying hard to avoid lately. (You get 10pts for this.)

Secondly throughout the week of July 1st through the 7th pick two of these “treats” and add them to your food in-take while remaining within your calorie range. This takes practice and if we don’t practice it how do we ever plan on mastering it?!?!?! You will receive 10 pts for each “treat” you consume (up to 20 pts) and 50 pts for staying within your calorie range when you do (up to 100 pts).

Thirdly is to learn from your choices. If you don’t stay within your calorie range or so on learn from it without the guilt and know you just have to work it differently next time as we all know there WILL be a next time! Write a blog about what you learned about during this challenge. This is very open as there is no wrong thing – just be honest with yourself! (You will receive 100 pts for this.)

And lastly, is to share this with other to help them on their journey. Not only will this help others but it will also benefit you as well because we tend to feel better about ourselves when we help others. Go to the SparkPeople Introduction Boards www.sparkpeople.com/mysp
and pick one new member to welcome and explain to them what you learned. You don’t have to tell them it’s for a challenge just pass on the knowledge you gained. You get 10 pts for this (up to 50 pts 10 pts for each new member).
Now that you know what this challenge is about simply go to the Independence Challenge Sign Up & Points Earned message board www.sparkpeople.com/mysp

There will be a template for you to copy and paste into your post. You will only have one post as you will just keep editing your post to add your information on the points you earn throughout the week. I will not tally all the points and announce winner until July 10th to give you time to compete your stuff.

Let’s have some fun with this everyone!!!! And remember knowledge is power and that leads us to our Independence from the diet stigma!!!!!

If you are interested in joining this challenge with us we would love for you to join in! Just stop into the team Spark Ability and join us!!!!

i think this is such a great idea, it is so true, when we learn portion control it will be so much easier and we will not stress so bad in situations where the food is not on our diet, or should i say our way of eating!! good luck everyone.......
