One less bag of marshmallows

Saturday, July 11, 2009

Ok so I am posting a lot of different blogs tonight… to explain, I snuck my computer on the trip and so I am typing each this post while camping so I can copy and paste it into my blog when I get back. Each post is a different typing session and if I had internet access would have been posted at the time I typed them. I know I could put them all together but I’m trying not to make them too long.

Moving forward…..

Day Three continued ….

So I don’t think I can go anywhere without being harassed by some kind of animal. First a bird then a chipmunk both after my rice cakes and now this!!!!!

I am sitting at the picnic table transferring pictures of the day from my camera to my computer, in the dark. The only light is the fire and its a few feet in front of the table so it’s not helping, and my computer screen. Out dry food tote is about one and a half feet from me and one of my kids forgot to put the lid back on.

I hear this rattling and turn to look and it the biggest Raccoon I’ve ever seen. I swear it had to be 2 ½ to 3 feet long and probably 2 feet around. Anyway, as I look over I get startled and I take in a quick loud breathe which of course scares it. It grabs a package and takes off back into the woods. We later figured out he stole a bag of marshmallows.

Wait it gets even better.

We get the lid on the tote and start to move it to the car so to keep the animals out of it and the raccoon starts coming back…..and it’s growling at us!

We put all our food in the car and spent the next hour fending off a raccoon that kept coming back and growling at us.

Hopefully the Raccoon is done now because it is time to get some sleep so we can get up in the morning and load the car and get home.

Be sure to check out my other posts from these days –
