Tuesday Morning...

I was so excited to make a journal/blog entry this morning....

Turns out that one of the Diabetic Meds(glipizide) that I started 2 weeks ago allows my body to absorb more of the carbs that I have been eating...so, that made sense, because 2 weeks ago my weight loss really slowed down. My nurse told me this yesterday and we tweeked my nutritional goals to compensate for this and we'll see how this week shakes out...I weighed in yesterday and had lost another 5 pounds just since last Friday - so that was a nice shot in the arm along with clearing up the mystery of why my weight loss had slowed down.

My blood pressure was 112/78, my blood sugar/glucose this morning was 142, lowest ever since starting over a month ago. We took measurements yesterday too for the first time, so now I have that to track and see those changes too.

A little bit of a challenge that I made it through yesterday was to switch around my lunch meal for my dinner meal, as to get the carb heavier meal in earlier in the day and go for more of low card/no carb protein meal for dinner...so I can have my whole grain breads, baked potatoe, whole wheat pasta(not all in the same day) at lunch and have a huge salad with a protein for dinner. We really cut my calories, carbs, fats and protein ranges to experiment this week and see what my body does as far as getting into my reserves for fuel...so we'll see

All in all, it felt good to feel more in the loop on what's going on with my body and to find out that these last few weeks of slow progress had to do more with my diabetes medication than me just being a loser or a failure! Good for me, 40 pounds lost here I come!

    Fantastic work!! Taking measurements is so much better than the weigh-in because everybody tends to gain some muscle while they lose some fat.
