My Six Dollar Burger revision

Sunday, January 24, 2010

Tonight we were planning on a dinner out and were sure it would be Chili's. As I stated in my blog - January 14/Carnivore - I need meat. I was ready for my meat fix and Chili's has this yummy Guiltless Carne Asada Steak that is pretty tasty. I was thinking about it all day and to make it even better I was really low on my nutritional intake today so I knew I was in the clear.

We did not go to Chili's. YIKES! The birthday boy's choice - Carl's Jr. Thanks buddy!

My choice - The Six Dollar Burger. I had to have that meat!!!!

But wait...read on...this is what I did...I requested no mayo on the burger
(I know you don't think that a big deal but they slather that thing in mayonnaise...that's part of what makes it taste so yummy!)
and had a garden salad with the low-fat balsamic dressing...and.... and....and...I cut the burger in half and threw away the other half!

....we interrupt this broadcast for a special report....

My man just walked in and read what I had written this far and told me to write and let you guys know that he was very impressed that I actually threw it away. He was sure I was going to take the other half home only to eat it later tonight.

....back to our regularly scheduled program....

So...yay for me!! Honestly, I was impressed with myself because I have never cut a burger in half and not eaten the whole thing. The best part - I was actually satisfied. I got my meat fix and didn't feel overloaded, guilty, or that I had blown it. It was a pretty awesome and powerful feeling!

AWESOME!! Wow - that's some self control! I know the meat in a fast-food burger is not the biggest offender. It's all that other stuff around it. Good job! (And I love your special report - heehee)

Smart choices. Mayo has alot of calories and fat and sometime you need alot of it to taste it. I always carry some packets of low-fat mayo left over from Panera or Subway. Then if I want mayo I have my own. That was smart not to let the restaurant choice ruin your eating. And only eating half was a great move. You enjoyed your evening and didn't deprive yourself. emoticon

Way to go. I usually bring stuff home for "another day" but end up eating it later that day. Good Advice!!! Throw the other half out ....
