I walk with a partner every day

Saturday, January 30, 2010

yesterday she seemed really disturbed at something she's seen in a Dr's office.
Turns out it was a mutual friend who has been confined to a wheelchair due to medical issues. She is not able to push it around herself. Neither of us had seen her in the past 10 years so it was something of a shock.
She was a dancing fool in her single days.
I HAD heard that she had had a terrible bout with skin cancers. But I don't know if that is even related to why she would be in a chair.

She is at least 10 maybe 15 years younger than I am.

My friend told me that it was rheumatoid arthritis that is her confining ailment.

She no longer has access to life the way that we do.
I am so grateful to SP and to my walking partners for helping me to take responsibility for my health in the little things like keeping my weight down and doing appropriate exercises for my age, condition and ability.
Just being grateful to hy HP for the ability to change.

Being in a wheelchair dependent on others for transportation is not the end of the world but it is a major transition.

Thank you HP

Beautifully said, Steff... Gratitude is everything, isn't it?

And, well, SparkPeople... it just doesn't get any better than Spark.

We are so blessed to have found this SparkFamily, aren't we?

    Hugs!
