Fell off the wagon and still thinking positive

After a good run of portion control I fell off the wagon. My challenge is figuring out how to handle fun events like baking cookies without going crazy. I went to my friend's house to have some gf time and we were making cookies. Now I did plan good and we had a good filling lunch BEFORE we started baking the cookies.
The next thing I know we had downed a pan of chocolate chip cookies between us. It was totally mindless. We were talking and laughing and having fun and eating cookies. It just goes to show how old habits are really ingrained.
i'm not upset or feeling guilty. I do want to figure out how to have a cookie baking event or something without over indulging. this is a challenge not a setback. Looking for your thoughts!
