Tired of making lemonade with all these lemons!!

Tuesday, February 23, 2010

You know the saying, "when life gives you lemons, make lemonade". Well, I am sick and tired of making lemonade! I know it's important to stay focused and positive but it is so hard!

It is so difficult to focus on a lifestyle change when so many other things are going on. I have such good intentions, set goals and have a plan in mind but whenever I take a step forward I get pushed back three steps....

Why does life have to be so difficult at times? How do you overcome so many obstacles in life? I know they say that God will not give you more than you can handle but why must he test me so much?

I couldn't possibly understand you more. It can be VERY difficult to stay positive when you're circumstances aren't. The only advice I can give is to put your problems in perspective. There are many who wish they had the problems we have. Instead they have to worry about where their next meal will come from or where they will sleep. If they can survive so can you :)

I had this same problem last year, and this year, I decided to make my goals easier to attain...for when life interrupts! Instead of saying I would exercise 30 minutes a day, I said 210 minutes a week....same idea, but it gives me room to wiggle if one day has a lot going on. That gives me something good to focus on when everything else seems tough. Good luck- it isn't easy. emoticon

I know exactly what you mean.
I'm going through a rough patch at the moment so I don't have any words of wisdom for you. Just know that you're not alone and you have Spark friends to help you. emoticon

Jen, yes life is hard and difficult at times or sometimes for what seems like long periods of time. But as the saying goes "That which does not kill me, can only make me stronger". I believe that God gives us certain situations to see how we will handle them and to "toughen" us up. I am so sorry you are going through this. Stay strong and turn to God in prayer. Talk to him often. He will see you through this! Things will happen in His time frame. Baby steps my friend!

Expecting life to treat you well because you are a good person is like expecting an angry bull not to charge because you are a vegetarian. --Shari R. Barr I love that quote. Every lemon is a lesson. Right now God is teaching you. Try to sit down quietly and think about the lemon and what is a lesson you can learn from it. Just think about it as God helping you study. And remember: Every failure brings with it the seed of an equivalent success. --Napoleon Hill And if you feel like it is too much for you right now, don't be afraid to let God know. Just tell him you can sure appreciate a break from your lessons right now. I'm sure he wouldn't mind. Much love to you and yours and good luck.

    Many Blessings,

I understand, I think its time to make some lemon popscicles instead. Need a little variety. It is important to one not give up and two to regroup. You said you have a plan in mind but are you writing it down to see it to commit to it. It will help. Motivation can be a hard thing to maintain, but there are ways to keep it. Be your own coach, keep your thoughts positive and upbeat. Make small goals and then reward yourself. Try starting a streak, make it simple at first and later you can add to it.
You are right all the lifestyle changes can be hard so much to do. It is better to start out a little slower, just focus on one component at a time. This will take a little time, but hey we have life to get it right. Dont beat yourself up and keep taking the forward steps and in time you will see more forward and less back.
Keep looking foward and going for your goal.
