Ephesians 1

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ, 4 just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love, 5 having predestined us to adoption as sons by Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will, 6 to the praise of the glory of His grace, by which He made us accepted in the Beloved.

Romans 15:7

7Honor God by accepting each other, as Christ has accepted you.

Acceptance is a huge issue for me (pun intended). I do not want to socialize because I fear rejection. I have long been insecure and avoided family or class reunions because I did not want people to "see" the real me, who I am, how I live, what I do. Now that insecurity is compounded with the weight, and I do not want them to see the physical me, either. I do not accept myself, so I cannot expect others to do so.

emoticon Lord I ask that you help me learn to accept myself and Your love, as I accept and give love to the children You love so dearly. I know that I need to take these steps to be a whole and healthy person. emoticon

Well you certainly are accepted here on SparkPeople! You are a great Spark Friend to a lot of people. I know what you mean, though, about self-acceptance. It can be hard sometimes. I think accomplishing some of the goals we set for ourselves can help us feel better about ourselves. Best wishes on your journey to self-acceptance! emoticon

Amen Miss Rhonda! I know I like you and I haven;t even met you but I know if I did I would gravitate right on over to you! Sometimes the place to start is by accepting the acceptance that others have for us and then slowly believe and accept ourselves. You are right though, we have a Lord our God who accepts warts and all!

from your warty girlfriend! emoticon emoticon emoticon

Wow. Did you write that or did I? It sounds just like me! I don't socialize for the same reason. But, I kind of like being with myself. I'm actually good company!

That is so true. Thank goodness God loves us for who we are, not what we look like. Thanks.
