Running replay

Tuesday, April 20, 2010

Haven't done a running blog in a while! Well I stayed with week 7 of training last week, and moved onto week 8 yesterday. It was a doozy, much faster:

I was amazed at how much I can run now. I may not love running yet, but I love that I, an overweight asthmatic, can actually do it now! Simon was pretty impressed too. ;-)

So here's the breakdown:

Treadmill:
Speed Time (minutes)
2.6 mph 2:45 (warm-up)
3.8 mph 2:45 (run)
3.0 mph 2:45
3.8 mph 5:30 (run)
3.0 mph 2:45
3.8 mph 5:30 (run)
3.0 mph 2:45
3.8 mph 5:30 (run)
3.0 mph 2:45
3.8 mph 5:30 (run)
3.0 mph 2:45
3.8 mph 5:30 (run)
3.0 mph 2:45
3.8 mph 2:45 (run)
2.6 mph 2:45 (cool-down)

Total time: 55 min.
Total distance: 3.14 miles
Calories burned: 433
Avg HR: 144
Max HR: 163
In target: 38:20/55:00
Avg speed: 3.4 mph
Incline: 1

So I think that means I ran 33 out of 55 min. More than half! New record! =D I think I'll stick with this program till it becomes easy, which I can tell by my lower heart rate like my last program. Once my average HR was in the 130s or less, I knew it was time to kick it up a notch.

It's so nice to see tangible (kinda) improvement like this!

You will start loving running when you can feel the progress! This post proves to you that your endurance is getting better. Once you can run for 15 minutes straight, then you set another goal (say 20 minutes) and then another goal and then another goal. It's hitting those milestones and knowing you are beating your personal best that gives you the BEST satisfaction.

Running is about beating yourself - not the next guy, but knowing not only you CAN do it - but you ARE doing it!

    Keep up the good work!

It's definitely cool to see the HR thing. I remember I would be in the high 150s-160s for most of my runs and to see the 130s was like "whaaaaaaa? Is this thing broken?" Nope, we're just getting fitter.
