Trying new things...

Thursday, April 29, 2010

Today is a day of trying new things! The last few days, actually.

- I got the pedometer I talked about a few posts ago, and I LOVE IT!! Apparently, I desperately need to walk more because in the normal course of my day, I barely made it passed 5000 steps. lol I don't get to walk much at work, chained to the desk as I am.

- I've been reading Tina's blog at http://www.carrotsncake.com since her guest post on The Daily Spark, and I really enjoy it. Thanks to her blog, I ordered some of the Mad Hectic Oatmeal she posted about a week or two ago. I ordered it Sunday evening, and I got it yesterday! Not bad! I ordered the French Chocolate, Raspberry Almond, and Strawberry Pecan flavored. So far I've only tried the chocolate, and it's really good. It seems to have the most calories, but it also has the most protein of the 3 flavors I ordered. I sliced a banana into it, so it was like chocolate banana oatmeal. DELICIOUS! :D

- Also thanks to Tina's blog, I went on a search to find Siggi's yogurt. It was such a big surprise to me to like Greek yogurt that I decided I wanted to try Icelandic yogurt! lol Turns out they do carry it in my area at Whole Foods. I've never actually been in Whole Foods before, but I had the evening to myself last night, so after dinner, I headed over there to check it out. It's a little Hippy Crunchy for me, but I ended up getting a container of Blueberry Siggi's, and a container of the Chobani yogurt I've just started eating in Pomegranate. I don't really know if I like pomegranate, but I thought I'd try it. If I don't, I don't. I also didn't like some of the flavors Siggi offers (grapefruit and some other combination that kind of sounded gross), so I went with the usually safe blueberry. I'm going to try it for my morning snack, so we'll see.

The one thing I'm not too fond of is these new yogurts are a bit more expensive than my usual Yoplait Light at $0.50-$0.70 each. The Chobani is offered at an "introductory price" at my local Safeway for $1.25 each, and I found it at WF for $1.49. The Siggi's put me back about $2.49, and there were other brands there that were just as much if not more. Kind of expensive for a teeny little bowl of cultures. lol

I did some Wii Fit last night as well. Not as much as I wanted to, but the boy came home just as I was thinking about playing a game of Wii Tennis, so I didn't get to. Maybe today. :) Or extra tomorrow. :D

    Yay! :)

BTW - Tried the Siggi's yogurt. NOT A FAN. yick. It's very thick and creamy, but it kind of has a weird aftertaste that I can't get over, and I kind of feel like I want to add a sugar or Splenda packet to it to sweeten it up. It's also chalky, which I can't stand! I'll stick with the Chobani or Yoplait!

I followed your link to the Mad Hectic Oatmeal and ordered 2 kinds today. Sounds like a really good product. Thanks for the tip.
