I'm back from a super-fun and productive trip. Here's a little update from me! First I went to Utah for a photo shoot. Then I met my husband in Vegas and we partied pretty hard.
In neither place was it really possible to eat well. I did the very best I could, choosing grilled chicken sandwiches at the fast food restaurants I had to eat in for lack of an alternative, and successfully dragging people all over town to find a restaurant with a decent selection of salads. Buuuuuut...I definitely wasn't eating my usual healthy stuff, and we did get free passes to the Flavours buffet at Harrah's, where the dessert selection and I became well acquainted. Furthermore, though I brought my gym clothes, I had no chance to go for a run in Utah, and though in Vegas we did a lot of walking (and some great hiking in Red River Canyon), there wasn't a whole lot of real cardiovascular exercise going on.
I'm not beating myself up over any of this, or about not hitting the gym immediately upon my exhausted return home; I had a great trip and I regret nothing! In fact, I'm not weighing myself this week because I don't think it's relevant. I went back to my usual healthy eating habits upon my return and today I kicked my exercise back off with a 40-minute run with the dog. The run felt great -- I went farther than I'd anticipated! -- and it felt like going back to normal. I'm pretty pleased about that. Finally, eating healthy and exercise is normal. I know that I could still easily backslide, but I also know that it's a lot easier to stay on the wagon than it ever has been before.
In short: Happy to be home; happy to be back to my healthy habits.
