Motivation for the Summer!

Tuesday, May 25, 2010

Wow summer has come in with a roar...and I feel like I am still playing at getting this right. But I know that since procrastination seems to be my best friend right now I need to make myself more accountable. I also need to work on my motivation. It's not just enough to say the words...I have to do the work too!!!

1. I will record every morsel, lick, and taste that passes these lips.
2. Eat nothing that I do not know the calorie count....no more guesstimating
3. Exercise is not for fun...it's a necessity...5 day's a week minimum...

1. I need to write down specific goals
2. Develop rewards for when I meet specific goals to keep me focused
3. Talk to my family...let them know that I need their help and quit trying to hide what I'm doing.
4. Focus on consistency...in meeting my needs and desires.
5. Re-evaluate my goals weekly.

Somehow it just seems more concrete when I see it in writing. And saying it to y'all puts the extra focus in for me. I'm glad for a place where I feel like I can put the commitment out there and you all understand the why's and wherefore's.

Wish me luck!! Sheree

I disagree with exercise is not for fun... if you don't enjoy it you need to find something you like... I like going in the water... swimming and treading water is fun...for you dancing is fun... go for what you enjoy

Way to go Sheree! You really sound like youve got it together girl! You reminded me of a training class I went to here that my job provided for free and it really helps. I was called establishing objectives and reaching goals for success. I wish there was a way that I could get all that paperwork I had from that class to you cause it helps WAY MUCHO! Maybe you could help me think of a way to do it. Anyway you go girl and i am so proud of you, Keep up the good work! Yay!

I came to many of the same conclusions you mention in your post. I've been thinking about my final goal and declared that when I started back up with SP but the rest of my goals were very ambiguous. I couldn't really pin them down and I didn't want to write them down because then I have to figure out what were and how I would achieve them.

So I bought myself a journal and promised myself that I wouldn't do the self-censoring thing that I usually do and just let my thoughts and feelings flow - no matter what they are. I had to promise myself that it would stay private and that would help me to feel comfortable writing all those thoughts down.

Today, I put my goals through the end of June in my journal. They aren't anything earth shattering but I had to push myself to start. I don't have any rewards attached to them, but I'd like to. I have a hard time doing anything for myself so that's one of the things that was holding me up. I will try to determine those rewards before the end of the day.

Congrats on writing your post and declaring your intentions. And sorry for commenting enough for another blog post!!
