It's not leaving the planet

Monday, June 07, 2010

Sometimes, I want to eat without any limits. Evidently. This is not a new revelation. It's why I started the year with 100 pounds to lose.

I've really been focused on my food choices the last couple of weeks & when faced with a horribly tempting food, I tell myself it's not leaving the planet! My sister makes an awesome potato salad. I had a bite & then told myself that if I really, really wanted more on another day that she could make it for me. It's not leaving the planet. Neither is the bumpy cake--picked up fresh from a local bakery--that I brought to a family function last week. The bakery is 2 miles from my house. If I find that I truly can't possibly live without it, then I can go get another one. It's not leaving the planet.

So my mantra has been working...at least with the food choices. Now if I can find something that will click in my head when it comes to exercise! Well, one hurdle at a time, right?

I like your mantra too! Thats what I tell myself when coworkers bring in baked goods to share with everyone. One of our circulation workers ... her hobby is baking... so I tell myself there will always be more another time. ;)

way to go at battling your temptations. That's an awesome mantra! What I've been doing to keep me on track with my exercise is that I've been writing down what I did ( exercise wise ) onto a calendar in my room ex. 30 min walk/run, 200 crunches. I also bought star stickers and every time I do an exercise that I didn't want to do I put a star on that day. Just remember to keep moving 5 min is better then 0, 10 min is better then 5 and 15 is better then 10. As long as you put in some form of exercise you'll be laughing when the weight starts dropping. emoticon

I'm going to have to try that mantra Ruth. I've been doing okay food-wise for the most part, but I have to severely cut back on my sugar intake. That's going to be my biggest hurdle.

I've been tempted too. Sunday I wanted to go to Louie's for thier awesome fried chicken. Believe me in the morning I was convinced I was going to go. I even saved up calories for the spree. Sunday's my rest day and I was going to walk the 1/4 mile to the place. Woohoo, extra calorie burn, but when it was time to go, I reached in the fridge and pulled out a bunch of vegetables and began cooking dinner. It was pretty tasty and I was distracted from thinking about the chichen.
