Lung issues and back pain

Thursday, June 10, 2010

These two things seem to be consuming my life right now. I do not have these problems but they are affecting me since my DH, Denny is suffering with them. We seem to be doing better with the lung issues. He is now on O2 at night only. Is not coughing or losing his breath while talking. If he exerts himself, he does get breathless, but recovers more quickly . This is improvement.

His more urgent issue is the back pain that he is experiencing. He needs to be more active to build up his lungs again and also to lose weight. But he cannot do much because of the back pain. Seems to be caught in a catch 22. Went for an MRI on Tues and has an appt Monday with a neurosurgeon. Thankfully we didn't have to wait weeks for that appt.

Until then, I am trying to stay focused on my Spark plan, my eating and fitness. Some days fitness is not an issue because I am cleaning the pond filters, pulling weeds, etc....some of which were his jobs. Other days we are going to the doctor or other appts and I am not getting any physical exercise. Today my attitude is better and I am content with doing what I can. Other days I am frustrated, worried, and upset about all that is happening.

My day starts better when I spend time with scripture, meditation and the rosary. So those things need to be priorities right now. It also helps that the sun is shining and it is a beautiful day. I need to remember to thank God in all situations even when the sun is not shining and when the outlook is not bright. My goal is to keep looking up!!! God help me to do that!!!

I'm so sorry to hear about your husband's health problems. Sometimes I think it's easier to endure the pain or problem myelf than have to watch someone I love go through things. I dedicate my rosary to you and your husband tonight.

My heart goes out to you. It is so difficult watching a loved one suffer. I find praying the rosary to be helpful too. I also ask God to lift the load to make it a bit easier. You are both in my prayers. Good luck!

Sorry to hear DH is having problems.
I can relate to the back pain issues, I have chronic upper back and neck pain, which sends my back into spasms. I am able to function now, but for the last 18 months it has been a battle. I still don't have answers, but after more testing I go and have another appointment with the neurosurgeon.
Your faith is strong and despite the battles, you have a great attitude.
I will keep DH in my prayers.

My heart goes out to you as you are carrying a heavy load right now. Last winter I was feeling just like you. Norm has recovered and I pray your hubby gets his health issues under control too.

You are dealing with it in the best way, by putting it all in the hands of God. He will give you strenth to get through and you also have your Spark Friends to help and support you.
