The Contest is Over

Thursday, July 01, 2010

Well today was the final weigh in for our 6 month diet contest at work. As a group we lost 242 pounds! Not bad for 17 people. My team, Probation, beat the Detention team also. We lost a total of 5.76% of our body weight. Detention lost 4.53%.

It was a close race for the individual winner. Calvin from Detention was third losing 37 pounds for a total percentage of 16.01%. Shirley from my team was second losing 38 pounds for a total percentage of 19.49%.

And..........drum roll please..............yours truly officially lost 51 pounds since January 1st. My total percentage was 21.07! I told you I was going to win!!

I did fall just slightly short of my own goal of being to my halfway point of 187.5 pounds but I'm REALLY, REALLY close. I weighed in this morning at 188.6 pounds! (on my home scale in my birthday suit, etc...)

NOW...........everyone is going out to lunch today to celebrate the end of the contest - Well everyone except me that is. I am NOT done. I will NOT be gaining weight this month. I still have a goal that I WILL reach. Nothing in my daily routine is going to change. I feel amazing and I'm not about to blow it now!

Everyone keeps asking me what I'm going to do with the money. I won $300 !!! I'm not sure what I'm going to do with it. The obvious answer is to buy new clothes but I have already had to do that. I have went from a size 18 pants to a size 12 and from size XXL shirts to just a regular old large without any X's in front. Since I haven't reached my goal weight I am just buying the bare minimum too. 4 pair of dress slacks and 2 pair of jeans - I can wear jeans to work on Fridays. I try to buy at least one new shirt on payday and so far I have still been well dressed for work.

So the big question is what SHOULD I do with $300............ any suggestions?

Congratulations!!! I am so happy for you - and you are such an inspiration to me! Good for you not allowing anyone to derail you from your end goal.

For the $300 prize - I would say, if you need any fitness equipment - like new running shoes or something, that would be fun. I think a BodyBug (sp?) would also be a good investment. I have heard many people say that as they near the final pounds toward their goal, it is a tool that helps them significantly.
Whatever you do - spend the money in a way that will motivate, inspire and help you remember all of your accomplishments. You are AMAZING! emoticon
