Better than expected

Monday, July 26, 2010

I was fighting cravings all day. I wasn't even hungry, I just wanted to eat!!! I know what the deal is, it comes around every month. It's always the same, low energy, food cravings, moments of depression alternating with moments of extreme emotions.

I did better on my calories than I expected however, considering the way I felt all day. I actually came in around 1500 which is way lower than I though it would be. I also didn't feel much like exercising because my son decided to share his summer cold with me so I had a sore throat today. Also it has been extremely hot around here but today it rained. That lowered the temp but when you go outside you may as well go step into the shower because you will be wringing wet soon enough. That's not very conducive to exerciseing outside. However, I did manage a 3 mile Walk Away the Pounds this morning and a 2 mile walk around the park this afternoon. Then I managed to get a short session of yoga in too.

So I have around a 500 calorie deficit for today and I feel like I'm doing real well!

By the way, maintenance was not working for me. Even eating an average of 1800 calories a day WITH exercise was too much. I was slowly inching my way back up the scale. Sad but true. So I guess I will pretty much be holding around 1500 to maintain. 1300 - 1400 to get these last few pounds back down where they should be, under 145.

Oh well, I will feel better in a few days and I will be able to get some more intense exercise in before school starts and I have to go back to work.

I don't track as often as I should. I convince myself that since I've been good at minding my cravings and monitoring my eating plan, that I don't need to track. But I do forget, and at the end of the day, I sometimes can't remember if I had that bowl of mixed fruit earlier this morning or maybe it was yesterday some time. Tracking things as I'm eating them helps. Love your inspiration. Keep going.

You are right to find what works for you. I found too that I need to stay in the very bottom of my calorie range to maintain my goal weight - even with working out 5-6 days a week. But that's ok. I feel better when I eat a little less. If I do splurge, I know I have to boost the activity a little to compensate. It's a balancing act but you can do it!

Congratulations on getting your walks in! You're doing great. I'm glad to hear that you are still tracking after reaching your goal. I have a feeling I will need to track forever to stay at my goal weight once I reach it.
