Life is busy, busy.

Friday, July 30, 2010

Tomorrow we are driving two hours to a funeral and visitation for DH's aunt. While I don't look foward to a two hour trip, It is what they do in DHs family to support one another on these occassions. He wouldn't think of staying home, so he will pack up his portable O2 and off we go. I think I am just in a funk about all the activity that is happening right now.

On a more positive note,DH had a bone density test on Monday and it does not show any signs of osteoporosis. The doctor is not recommending any drug for that. I am grateful for that since he has been on prednisone for 3 months now. He is continuing his chiro treatments and water therapy. He is not seeing a lot of signs of improvement but the Dr and the PT say they do.

Sunday is the last day for our priests. Their last mass is at 10 and then there is a dinner and farewell following that. These were the priests that were there when we went through RCIA and joined the church so they are very special to us. We are getting some new priests that I think will also be special, but it will be a bittersweet day.

Tonight we will be keeping our GD the 2 year old for overnight. That should be a bright spot in the day. Her mother and brother are running in a race early in the morning, so they wanted us to keep her until that is over. Then we will leave to go to the funeral. Hope to get home early tomorrow night since we will have a full day on Sunday.

So much activity as well as keeping up with therapy treatments. DH would not want to miss any of it even though he struggles with pain and shortness of breath. As his caregiver it does keep me on the move and I get tired. It has to tiring for him as well. Can use alll the support and encouragement I can get from my Sparkfriends. With all of this I try to focus on maintaining my exercise and eating habits. It definitely is a challenge!

To those who stop by, thanks for listening and thanks for your support. I can use it all!!!

Yes, just from this blog, I do see what you mean about also having a full plate. I hope your husband gets along well..mine has copd but does not need oxygen yet. If he would quit smoking, he may never, but he can't seem to give that addiction up!
Thanks for stopping by my page and reading my blog.

You are busy with a lot of responsibilities. Don't forget to take good care of yourself as well. Take time for YOU also when you can.

You are going through a lot right now and my heart goes out to you! I will definitely keep you and your husband in my thoughts and prayers. The funeral will be hard on both of you but I understand your DH's family and his obligation. I just had my aunt's funeral last week - luckily my aunt's funeral was in town but I had to go alone as my DH was in Canada.

Friends have told me when one door closes another opens. Maybe the new priests will be wonderful, too - and you have very fond memories.

Sorry for your DH's loss. I know how wonderful grandkids are, we have 6. What fun! Lizzie

Before these priests leave, please ask them for their special blessings for both of you. Our assistant priest here gives me one every time we clean the rectory and it makes my day as it seems to put my mind to rest. Our pastor left for Colorado about two weeks ago for a month long retreat. We too, have some special guys here and would hate to lose them. Sorry about losing his aunt. I have one left and she just celebrated her 90th birthday. I can emphathize with you on being the caregiver as I spent every spare moment I had helping my sister when she had cancer, but we didn't win. Hope he gets to feeling better and can get off the preg and oxygen. You are both in my prayers.

I'm sorry to hear about your husbands aunt. You really do have a lot going on in your life., but health is most important and because you are your husbands caregiver you need to do all you can for yourself. I'm sure Spark is helping a great deal! My Mom cared for my Dad for a few years with Alzheimers and i went over days and helped out. I know how important it is to give yourself the time and care you need. Take one day at a time.
