Flavored Water (friend or foe?)

So I'm reading a book called Sweet Deception about all the dangers of sugar and sweeteners. Reading this information scares me quite a bit, especially since I load my water up with crystal light. Here I am thinking I'm making a better choice then drinking something sugar filled (because I can't drink plain water), but it turns out I'm not making a very healthy decision. Sure it's been better for my waistline then sugary drinks (like sweet tea!) but what about overall health? Man...it's scary what they say this stuff can do to you. Birth defects? Cancer? Diabetes? Emotional Disorders? Epilepsy? And that's just a few?
Geez....it's scary. So now I have to start getting myself off this crazy chemical and still whittle away my waist, which means staying away from sugar. So I guess I'll be experimenting with water and fruit juices. I'm hoping by buying different flavors of fruit juices, I can just add a little bit to my water and maybe even some club soda for that fizzy I like will help. And maybe even a little salt to replenish my electrolyte balance. Look at me, making my own recovery drinks...Crazy!
