Surgery and loss

Wednesday, October 13, 2010

Well, I will start by saying that my surgery went well this morning. I am recuperating at home with mild ups and downs in nauseousness and pain. I wasn't sure if I would go through with it last night. While I was waiting for my college math class to begin, I received a phone call telling me my brother in law was found dead on the bathroom floor-apparently from a prescription drug overdose. He had had an ongoing problem with pain pills and every time a doctor would cut him off he would find another. What a waste of a wonderful talented man! He was uncle to 9, great uncle to 5, brother to 4 brothers and 4 sister in laws. His musical abilities ran deep. I made it through classes and surgery today with the knowledge that he is at peace and putting off things in my life would only make things worse for me. I'm sorry if that sounds cold hearted to anyone. I could not even be a help to my husband as we have been separated for over 2 years and he refuses to talk to me at all. I have declared war on all drug dealers, street or "pain" doctors alike. Too many lives lost to the demon of addiction...

I'm sorry to hear about your brother-in-law. You don't sound cold-hearted to me. I'm glad that you made it through your surgery and you're resting. It must have been hard with that news.
