Shreding with Jillian, Walking with Leslie

Saturday, October 30, 2010

What is it about starting some new exercise routine that makes me come down with a cold? does this happen to anyone else? Seems it happens to me every time I start something new and I'm excited about it and it seems to be working, boom, I'm sick!

So's anyway last night I knew definitely that I was getting a sore throat, bummer. I was really getting into the Jillian Michael's 30 Day Slim Down routine and was going to be doing a level 1 & 2 workout today. So I really didn't feel like doing a shred but I didn't want to skip working out entirely so I pull out the Leslie Sansone Walk Away the Pounds and do a short one of those. Okay, my exercise streak is intact and I don't feel like I have made excuses to wimp out of exercise. I will probably do one more short walk before I settle down for the evening. It gets my heart rate up some, warms me up, increases my step count and activity for the day.

It's nice, but I am looking forward to getting better and getting back to some more intense exercise, it was really beginning to work.

Perhaps getting sick every time you start exercise is your bodies way of saying hello- nutrition look at me a little closer.. Vegetables and fruit- stoke up on the the immunesystem when we tax our body, if your running low bang a another cold..

Good that you're taking care of yourself. So many times we don't pay attention to our bodies and stretch ourselves too much when we are sick. Feel better soon.

I like the fact that you're taking care of yourself (not ignoring that you're sick) but also coming up with something to keep you "in compliance" with your plans. Feel better soon!

I think mild exercise is good for a cold. It won't work on the flu, so get your flu shot if you haven't already. Are you around a lot of kids? That will guarantee a lot of colds. Hope you're feeling better soon.

Hope you feel better soon! And good for you for recognizing that you needed to cut back a little while you're sick!

Up your vitamin C intake, and stock up on herbal tea. Having soup in the freezer can help too. I bought some Ball Canning containers recently that are single serving soup size and are for the freezer. That way when I make up a batch of soup, some goes in the freezer, but make sure you re-heat in a glass container in the microwave as some plastics give off toxins when heated (it's always something, ain't it)

emoticon on finding an alternative to your planned work out. I too have a few of Leslie's work outs, as well as Jillian's 30-Day shred. I am hoping to get my back problems worked out and get back into Jillian's work out soon.

Keep your chin up, rest as needed, heal your body, then come back with a vengeance. All your hard work is good for your body, and will help to speed your recovery. Again WAY TO GO, on not just going to bed, I could learn a lot from you!
