I did it! Well...I THOUGHT I did...

Thursday, November 25, 2010

Stayed within my ranges on the holiday, that is!

My motto was, "Only One." emoticon Only 1 beer before, only 1 glass of wine with dinner, only 1 roll with only 1 pat of butter, only 1 plate of food...and that not heaped up. Most of all, only one piece of pie. emoticon

I plugged everything in under Nutrition on my Blackberry SP app. I said, "WooHoo! I did it...I'm actually a few calories under my upper limit. emoticon

We had a good time at Suz son and DIL's house. The new GD was there, of course, delighting us all with her smiles and coos emoticon . Suz daughter was also there, and her sister, Patti, and her 'other' were in attendance, too.

Conversation was great. No arguments (as have happened in the past). Suz sis and myself helped with clean-up though Ginger (the DIL) wouldn't let us do much.

I went for three separate walks during the day...one being over a mile emoticon. Exceeded my step goal on my pedometer and did 15 minutes of stretching, strength and isometrics to boot.

I was very pleased... emoticonTHEN on the way home I thought, "Oh, oh...I didn't put in the deviled egg I had for an appetizer and I don't know if I logged the pumpkin pie" (I hadn't...though I did enter the whipped cream. Go figure)

I checked a few minutes ago when we got home, and I see after adding those missing items, I am 350 calories OVER for the day.

Shucks! I still think it was pretty good for an eating holiday like Thanksgiving. emoticon

I'll just eat toward the lower end of my ranges for a couple days and increase fitness. I'll have to point out this blog to my Here Comes January team (and Positive Mental Attitude, too).

I hope all of you are as pleased with your day as I am. Even if you're not, if you're Sparking and putting anything into it, you are learning a lifestyle to live with forever! That's what's so great about Spark People: more nutrition but still no deprivation (80%/20% rule), more water emoticon and sleep emoticon, and the terrific friends and teams.

Spark People, what I have learned here and the experiences I've had, have given me a new confidence. I have lost just short of 45 pounds now in 7 months. I feel taller! I have dropped 4 sizes in jeans...almost 5! Incredible!

Thank you, Spark Guy and team, thank you teams and leaders, thank you Spark Friends!

If there's ANYTHING I can do for you, please let me know! emoticon

That's an excellent motto! Congrats on having fun and staying close to your calorie range. It's always fun to have a good time with family. I lucked out Thanksgiving because I worked and everyone is on a diet, so I had no real choice but to eat ok! :-) Not sure if I would have done so otherwise. Your motivation is an inspiration!

Good job Peggy! Especially considering that the national average is about 4500 calories on Thanksgiving!

Great job!! I'm sure the walks helped make up for going a little over in Calories.

I didn't do so well with Thanksgiving, but I'm making the promise to myself to do much better at Christmas.

I still have 4 days left in November to get a good December 1st weigh-in :)

Keep up the great work!! emoticon emoticon emoticon

Oh, I love your motto "Only One." Sounds like it worked well too emoticon Congrats on the 45 pound loss in 7 short months... so proud of YOU emoticon

YaY... for babies, they are true blessings. Glad there was no family drama... we didn't have any either and our two youngest grandsons have both past the year mark so we had a lot of "awwwwww" moments as they toddled around. Our youngest daughter and her new hubby of 7 months are planning to start a family real soon so next Thanksgiving I expect to be even healthier and looking forward to at least our 6th grandbaby emoticon

    Life IS good!!!!

Definitely sounds like we all had wonderful Thanksgivings. Even though they commercialize the food more than family Spark has taught us the we don't live to eat but eat to live. Profoundly enough we take that with us everyday into all aspects of our lives. God bless & enjoy Friday! Dee

I laughed at your forgetting the pie and remembering to track the whipped cream. I have done that before. I am still struggling to think if I accounted for all the tasting I did during prep yesterday. Have a great weekend.

It sounds like you had a great Holiday! As long as you track, you've had a good day, over or not! You still have the mentality going, that's what matters! Congrats on your successes!

Your day of thanksgiving sounded great! We need more family get-together days. Food does seem to get people together, so that will have to be the plan...cooking. I actually enjoyed getting all the meal together yesterday, first time I was in charge in at least 20 years. It has always been at my MIL's house since getting together with Randy. I did delegate the turkey cooking to one DIL and the pies to the other DIL. Though I might do the turkey next year since she left the giblets inside still in the paper pouch. I imagine that happens quite a lot. She said she took out one pouch and didn't know to look in each end of the turkey!! I guess it was the neck she removed. Oh well, we still ate the turkey and no complaints yet that I've heard. It was pretty funny. They were in the neck opening, which also surprised me.

I have been asked to have Christmas Eve at my house this year, which is when my mother and brothers and I get together. Originally it was at my step-father's parents house when I was a child, then his oldest brother's house, then my step-brother's house. I am going to get my Christmas stuff out of the attic this weekend, maybe tonight. It will take me all weekend to decorate if I do nothing else, and that's just inside. I have nothing to do with outdoors, so lately nothing has been done outdoors. But I have so much stuff for indoors...and I love it all. But in my spirit of letting go I am going to try to let go of some of it as I unpack everything. I know I have at least 30 boxes of stuff, it's pretty ridiculous, especially since I'm the one that has to go up in the attic, pull the boxes to the top of the pull-down stairs, and hand them down to Randy. When the boys were still at home it was easier. I could have gotten them to do it yesterday, didn't think of it then.

I'm so glad to read about your wonderful day. It also sounds like you have a plan to correct going over on your limit today.
Hope your weekend it just as great!
