Commitment....the act of committing, pledging, or engaging oneself.

Sunday, January 02, 2011

OK so I don't normally blog much! I used to but I didn't really get much feedback and I think that was what I was looking for. Today I am blogging for myself. I've been here on SP for almost 3 years. Initially I wanted to lose the weight for my wedding and to quit smoking.
Well..... I lost 50 pounds and I quit smoking. I have been quit for over 2 yrs. now but the weight, what can I say? I have gained it all back plus some! I know all the reasons, I eat too much, I eat the wrong foods and I lack the exercise I need daily! I have all the tools to lose weight. They are at my fingertips and I know what to do to lose the weight. So today I am COMMITING to :
1.) Using my WW knowledge to eat, consume the proper amount of food daily
2.) Making healthy decisions on what to actually put into my mouth
3.) Having healthy snacks around at all times
4.) Drinking water EVERY day
5.) Walking 3 X's a week
6.) Using the stationary bike for riding instead of as a LR decoration, 3 X's a week
7.) Trying new, healthy recipes
8.) Being positive and excited about my choice to get healthy
9.) Staying focused on me and not everyone else
10.) Limiting my time on the computer
11.) Joining a new team that will motivate & encourage me to do this
12.) Asking for help when I need it

There, I guess this could be my own 12 step program!

On a funny note........"The older you get, the tougher it is to lose weight because by then, your body and your fat are really good friends." Not too far from the truth, I find it so much harder to lose the weight now that I am in the over 50 club, but it is doable. So my friends, please wish me luck as I try again to make this happen..........I KNOW I can!
cheers to 2011

Yes I know I'm commenting on a fairly old blog but I just met you so it's new to me.
How are you doing with your 12 step plan, looks like you have great goals I hope you are sticking to them although I know how hard that is.
I think you should blog more often, I find you very motivational. emoticon

I am glad for an update Sandi. Blogging, I believe should be a dialogue. However, I understand your frustration. I do it as a means of working things through as writing has always been an outlet for me. emoticon I am truly sorry you didn't get the feedback you were looking for. No excuses, but by about the time you left, I was a newbie who took attempted to help as the leadership had issues which made it difficult to be "present". Suddenly, it was just me, and an extremely busy Nancy keeping things going. The members were expanding to other areas and a sudden influx of newcomers arrived. I was left for six months, and not well myself, but these are a wonderful group of individuals, and I couldn't simply leave nothing. So much for that...The leader is back, and now that the challenge I created is over, I will be on my own taking the time to catch up with my wonderful Spark friends.
You have been on my mind a great deal. I want you to know how much I appreciate your support and the goodies. I have truly missed you.
Back to the most important issue. You have made a great deal of progress. Those steps should never be discounted. The insight you have gained, and the lessons you have learned will serve you well in many aspects of your life. emoticon You have selected some great goals for yourself. emoticon
Keep following the path which feels right for you, and you will be successful in more ways than you realize.
I hope you enjoyed your cruise. As you know I have allowed myself to get behind, but in order to remain healthy I, too must work on some difficult goals. I am always glad to hear from friends, and be assured you are not alone. If you ever need to vent, a sounding board, whatever, I have open ears.
Take care. I wish you the very best as you pursue your goals. emoticon emoticon

Sending GOOD VIBES your way! Of course you can do this! No luck involved. This from the woman who quit smoking 2 years ago! And you know they say that Quitting smoking is the HARDEST thing you will ever do, so losing a little weight should be a walk in the park! In fact, thats all it really takes is several walks in the park! (Haha, sometimes I am so witty!) emoticon
