Happy, Healthy New Year!

I spent New Year's eve with my good friend Meggan, making an Asian broth fondue with a ton of veggies. We also did a little tempura, but it was a big departure from the bread and cheese of the past. It was really special to connect with my friend. January first was incredible! I met a group of good friends for a sunny, crisp, breathtaking snow shoe adventure (8km). What an inspiring way to start a new year... connected, healthy and happy!

So... my dragon boat team is having a "Biggest Loser Contest" for the month of January. I am having trouble logging nutrition, but have decided to incorporate DAILY activity into my schedule (no matter what), and have been successful so far. On sore days, I go and stretch out at yoga. I plan to really think about when I am full, and have been asking myself: "is this food going to nourish me, or hurt my body". So far this healthy approach has led to a very healthy double pea soup this week, and this evening to a delicious brown rice bowl with veggies, tofu, curry and a crunchy asian slaw with apple and zingy cider vinaigrette.

Today I attended "Full Body Shred Bootcamp". I looked around the room, and noticed I was easily near twice the age of all the women in that class, and almost twice the size! Determined, I completed the full class, and my pop squats had pop!

I feel happy and encouraged!
