I just can't concentrate...

Tuesday, January 25, 2011

I took my 7 year old to the doctor on Friday. We have always thought that she "day dreamed" a lot and didn't always pay attention, but I never watched her that closely. A couple weeks ago, I was talking to her and she was "day dreaming". When she was doing this I noticed her eyes half closing and her staring into space. I tried to get her attention, but it didn't work. After a few seconds her eyes went back to normal. I thought it was weird and thought to myself, "I have to see if she does this next time she "day dreams"." Last Wednesday while I was driving her home from the sitters it happened again. She did the same "eye" thing. She had no clue what I said during that time period. To me, it seemed almost like a seizure. I talked to her teacher and the sitter and they have noticed the same thing. I decided to take her to the doctor.

Sure enough, she is having absence seizures. The doctor is going to set her up with a neurologist...and a cardiologist (the doctor wants to look at her heart murmer again).

Now I'm just waiting to hear who we are going to see and when.

I just want my little girl to be alright and she is all I think about. I'm not sleeping well and have caught a cold. Time just seems to be standing still...
